Is the phrase I cannot get out of my head this morning.
The military objectives apparently dont include actually rescuing hostages as a top priority.
The use of force is so undisciplined that the IDF has reported that 20% of its casualties are from the IDF forces shooting each other.
The IDF also admitted that there is no evidence that Hamas is collapsing, and that instead their operation in Gaza may continue for a long time.
Is the mission objective simply to kill a lot of people? Destroy as much as possible? Is there any end in sight?
Are we ok with that?

(51,040 posts)Lack of professionalism flows from authoritarian Benjamin Lihop Netanyahu. LIHOP by his propping up Hamas to sabotage peace and keep his RW ginned up and the electorate polarized.
Unprofessional too in that they disregarded the alarms raised by forward observers on Oct 7 because the observers were women.

(92,982 posts)I suspect that a lot more dialogue is going on than we are privy to that is a louder protest than we are let to know about. It's a thin ice environment no matter which move is made. I have suspicions about what is happening behind the scenes but I'll keep them to myself because they don't leave anyone unscathed and I'd rather not start an uproar.
I expect the US message to diverge from that of the genocidal perps of the moment in the very near future.

(11,868 posts)Yes to your first two questions, no to the third. The Post had a headline yesterday that the war would go on for months. An Israeli minister also said it would last for many months. Netanyahu is using the October 7 attack as an excuse to kill as many Palestinians as possible while also destroying most of its infrastructure. He has publicly stated that he will not allow a Palestinian state. Who made him God? He does not own Gaza or the West Bank.
Netanyahu has said in the past that he owns the US government. He seems to still think he does as the US has had no impact on his worst actions. Netanyahu is playing to Israelis because he knows that no other country will attack Israel to help the Palestinians. There is no reason to think that the state of Israel is in any danger. So far, world leaders are allowing Netanyahu to do anything he wants to the Palestinians. Perhaps its time to stop all aid and military help for Israel and apply economic sanctions.
