Republican lawmaker erupts at Biden administration officials during Israel briefing

WASHINGTON — Rep. Derrick Van Orden, R-Wis., aggressively confronted Biden administration officials Wednesday during a classified briefing about Israel, according to a Democratic lawmaker who was in the room and another source.

Rep. Judy Chu, D-Calif., and a source familiar with the situation said Van Orden approached the Biden officials during a question-and-answer part of the briefing. Chu and the other source said that instead of asking questions, Van Orden attacked the administration's presentation and shouted obscenities at the officials.

The officials conducting the briefing included Victoria Nuland, the acting deputy secretary of state; Sasha Baker, the acting undersecretary of defense for policy; and Morgan Muir, the deputy director of national intelligence for mission integration.

The eruption prompted Rep. Jason Crow, D-Colo., who was scheduled to ask the next question, to apologize for his GOP colleague's behavior. Crow’s apology drew widespread applause from the crowd of lawmakers in the room, Chu said.

yelled at and insulted a bunch of Senate pages. Wisconsin used to have legislators like Russ Feingold. Now they've got this dick and Ron Johnson. Of course they also have Tammy Baldwin. But they also once had Joe McCarthy. Over here in Minnesota we have had Michelle Bachman and Paul Wellstone, so I guess I should shut up now...

it really isn't fair tp hold voters in one district responsible for voters in another district (of course that doesn't apply to the Senate.)

I certainly would not want to be held responsible for Lamborn. I wish Crow were in my district instead. But it ain't so.

The apology for another's actions is meant as both a salve and a sword.

It helps to soothe the wound caused for those targeted and it cuts into the ego of the sad moron who 'lost it' and had to have another apologize for his behavior.

these idiots who do not speak for us!

Remember this is the same nut who back in July cursed out Senate Pages.

https://thehill.com/homenews/4123626-gop-congressman-curses-out-teenage-senate-pages/

'Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-Wis.) is in hot water after he cursed out a group of teenage Senate pages in the Capitol rotunda early Thursday morning.
According to a transcript written by a page minutes after the incident and obtained by The Hill, Van Orden called the pages “jackasses” and “pieces of s‑‑‑,” and told them he didn’t “give a f‑‑‑ who you are.”
The pages are a group of 16- and 17-year-olds who assist Senate operations, and when the Senate works late — as it did Wednesday night on National Defense Authorization Act amendments — pages generally rest nearby in the rotunda.
“Wake the f‑‑‑ up you little s‑‑‑‑. … What the f‑‑‑ are you all doing? Get the f‑‑‑ out of here. You are defiling the space you [pieces of s‑‑‑],” Van Orden said, according to the account provided by the page.
“Who the f‑‑‑ are you?” Van Orden asked, to which one person said they were Senate pages. “I don’t give a f‑‑‑ who you are, get out.”
“You jackasses, get out,” he added.
The incident, which occurred just after midnight, outraged members of the upper chamber, with one calling the string of remarks “horrible.”
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) later on Thursday took to the Senate floor to defend the pages."

All they're interested in is providing red meat for the ignorant knuckle-draggers that make up their party. I hope his constituents will come to their senses, and flip that seat back to the Democrats.
