Hours later, a National Security official walked back those comments.

The official told NPR Biden was referring to media reports about the attack in Israel.

Does anyone believe that it is so much better for Israel to fake claim that babies were beheaded as opposed to being shot? Or stabbed to death? or strangled? What exactly is the propaganda value you speak of in how the babies were killed?

In my view this is an attempt to make Israel LESS THE VICTIM of a terrorist attack IF it can be claimed that Israel lied about the details of the terrorism. In this case, a completely unimportant detail because, as you say, there is no moral distinction.

People were beheaded... the photos are posted (by Hamas).

babies were killed... the body bags are still being loaded into trucks... many of them are "small body bags".

The people who did this, and the people that support them, have given up any right to be part of the human race.

that particular method of execution creates - moreso than, for example, shooting them.

The same is true of claims that someone was beheaded - a claim that someone was beheaded inflames emotions more than a claim that someone was shot.

And, because of the innocence of babies, claims that they were killed is more inflammatory than claims that adults were killed.

So claims that babies (the most inflammatory victims) were beheaded (the most inflammatory method of killing) has the largest propaganda value.

Morally, the reality that Hamas killed babies remains the same. Completely immoral and unacceptable, regardless of the means used to kill them.

But the propaganda value of claiming that they were killed by beheading is significantly greater - and when emotions are so inflamed, it makes it more likely that whatever response Netanyahu mounts will be supported, even if it involves killing innocent Palestinian babies.
