https://www.theguardian.com/news/2023/oct/09/governments-in-europe-bolster-security-amid-spike-in-antisemitism-onlineCan anyone explain to me why we should support the Palestinian cause when people behave like this? These beliefs are not compatible with Western society. There are pro-Palestinians all over the US and Europe handing out candy and sweets celebrating Hamas brutally murdering and torturing civilians, including children and Holocaust survivors. For the record, supporting terrorism is illegal in EU countries.
How would we react if a bunch of people in New York and London were cheering ISIS murdering Americans? Would people think the ISIS cause to stop Western imperialism was justified?
And for those who claim it's a tiny few doing this, are you aware that Palestinian textbooks teach kids at a young age their goal in life is to murder Jews?

Regrettably, Palestinian Authority (PA) textbooks continue to incite antisemitism and
terrorism. In May this year, the European Parliament condemned the PA in this regard,
expressing concern that problematic material in Palestinian school textbooks has still not
been removed and about the continued failure to act effectively against hate speech and
violence in school textbooks.

(13,488 posts)and surely you are not endorsing such sentiment, or actions, here on DU?
(and, speaking of ignorant - antisemitism and anti-immigrant sentiment are also real big in Europe. So that means .... Hmmmm .. )

(13,488 posts)as you tread dangerously close to something that resembles 'hate speech' yourself. And, yes, the U.S. (understandably, but ultimately wrongly) drifted into some broad brushed xenophobic/anti-Muslim condemnation following 9/11 - and then worked very hard to pull back from that toxic and hateful 'branding'.
In the same light - all Palestinian people, nor the Palestinian 'cause' (whatever that might be) do not deserve your condemnation today. Please keep your (justifiable) outrage and approbation directed at those that who have acted deservingly - and be discerning enough to recognize that there is a difference between that and 'the Palestinians' as an aggregate.
The attacks and atrocities here received immediate, vocal, and righteous condemnation (as they should). However, that does not whitewash or erase a history going back many years. And that too (as it should) remains part of the overall picture - for people that are not bent on knee jerk reaction.
