Hamas has quite literally just destroyed the future of Palestinians.
Edit: Just saw that Austria has suspended aid, and Germany is looking into suspending aid as well.

(3,213 posts)Nobody except insane Antisemites support what they're doing right now. You're obviously going to lose global support when you brutally murder, kidnap, rape, and torture international tourists.

(15,010 posts)If I were in the leadership of Hamas, I would find a deep dark hole to crawl into and hide because Israel is going to hunt each and every one of them down, much like they did for the Munich massacre.

(3,993 posts)As they need to. I'm going to grab Munich from my DVD collection today and watch it again. Maybe watch a few YouTube documentaries about Mossad, the six day war, and how they hunted those WW2 Nazis in South America.
I'd always had a bit of sympathy for the Palestinian citizens. I've never liked how Israel built settlements in the West Bank. To me it was a provocation and unnecessary. It totally destroyed the two state idea, which I supported. Give each side their own country.
But this has totally turned me against Palestine now. I feel sorry for the innocents there but this massive of a plan could never have taken place without taict compliance. They are showing videos this morning of little kids and women being dragged back to Gaza. In terms of "public relations" all i can think is "what were they thinking?". Hamas has basically turned the majority of the world against them.
I don't know. Maybe this generation of Hamas leaders isn't experienced enough to realize what Israel is capable of. I wouldn't want to piss them off. As for Iran. If/When evidence emerges that they played ANY part in this, Israel will exact a price.

(19,260 posts)Could this be POOTY and TFG's team trying one final attempt to cause MASSIVE confusion in OUR country to get TFG's election back on track? Just thinking this would be their plan from day one, that if it looks bad for TFG, then put this plan into effect? Anything is possible, i guess.

(3,213 posts)You don't freakin rape, torture, and murder children, international tourists, and Holocaust survivors because another country's government/military is oppressing you.

(22,568 posts)There is dissent among Palestinians, just like there is among any other group. Painting with too broad a brush is what gets us into messes like this.
This is going to cause immense suffering for millions of innocent people.
MarineCombatEngineer
(15,010 posts)but the videos of Palestinians and their supporters dancing in many countries, including the US, isn't going to garner support for their cause.
Tragically, this is true.

(36,646 posts)Aid's not getting in.
Construction aid often goes to Hamas projects--even if it's not 100%, you build a school and put an arms dump under it, that's an aid-funded arms dump. You fund a hospital and it pays for utilities and space for Hamas C&C, you're funding Hamas C&C.
Financial support for administration and government supports Hamas, and the separation of religion, ideology, military, and administration is vanishingly small.
Food aid is the same. You can't feed the population without supporting Hamas' ideological and military wings, and since they're the administrators, they often nod as they hand over food and take credit for what good there is (as all politicians are wont to do). I mean, Hamas is state, Hamas is schools, Hamas is church.

you OP title states

which means it is
A. already permanently decided
B. all of it is gone, the entire 691m
neither of which is the case

(3,213 posts)The EU isn't going to side with Palestinians anymore. When even Sweden, probably the most pro-Palestinian country in Europe is talking about ending aid, their support is done.

(3,213 posts)If they want aid, they can get it from the hellhole countries that support Islamic terrorism.
Celerity
(48,798 posts)Hamas absolutely needs to be removed from the equation, but that doesn't mean that all humanitarian aid should be permanently ended, especially if Hamas is indeed eradicated from any sort of controlling power.
On the other side, the illegal West Bank settlements need to permanently end, and the preexisting ones need to be returned. Without that as well, the never ending cycle of conflict and tragedy will continue down its bloody path of ruination.

(48,798 posts)As for the article, it only reinforces my original reply.
The OP title makes claims not backed up by what is actually happening, as I have shown.
No final decisions have been made.
Could it happen? Sure, but it has not happened as of now.

(48,798 posts)https://www.euromedmonitor.org/en/article/1255/Squandered-Aid:-Israel%25E2%2580%2599s-repetitive-destruction-of-EU-funded-projects-in-Palestine
Damage to European Union-funded projects in Palestine during Israeli attacks and other incursions is nothing new. However, following the unions move in 2015 to label Israeli settlement products, the number of EU-funded projects demolished or confiscated by Israel increased dramatically. In the first three months of 2016, the number of demolitions per month, of either private property or Internationally/EUfunded projects, increased to 165, from an average of 50 during 2012-2015, The United Nations office for coordination of humanitarian affairs 'OCHA' has documented 120 demolitions against EU-financed buildings in the first three months of 2016.
Euro-Med Monitor estimates that since 2001, the Israeli authorities have destroyed approximately 150 development projects, of which totally or partial funded by the EC and its member states, of what incurs the EU a financial loss of approximately 58 million out of the total 85 million worth of damage.
Euro-Med Monitor also estimates that since 2001, the total value of EU squandered aid money (development and humanitarian projects)amounts to 65millionof which at least 23million were lost during the 2014 assault alone.
In this report, Euro-Med Monitor analyzes the Israeli destruction of EU-funded projects and structures in the Occupied Palestinian territories (Opt) in the period between 2001 May 2016, using what limited public data are available; since this information is actively suppressed by European officials to avoid embarrassment. We challenge the legality of the destruction, discuss its chilling effect on the willingness of donors to continue the rebuilding of Gaza and examine the negative impact on the credibility of European bodies during negotiations for a possible peace.
