He totally miscalculated on this one. It isn't going over the way he hoped it would. He should have smiled and looked unbothered. That photo will live in infamy as FDR would have said!

(3,363 posts)My assault happened in October 2015. I have been dealing with the assault and its aftermath at the same time T**** rose in politics and his reign of terror ever since.
I honestly believe that if someone - anyone! - else had won the GOP nomination and the presidency in 2016, my recovery would have been so much easier. It would never have gone away completely, of course, but that p***y grabbing, misogynistic raping bully would have been far away from the White House and poisoning minds.

I'm sorry for those triggered by this horrible man. I'm sorry for all of us that he exists, frankly.

(97,586 posts)Cant you see what he is?! Hes a stalker. Hes an assaulter. Hes a menace to us all.
I was unbelievably creeped out right there on stage in front of the world he was telling us exactly who he is.
The last time I saw the man who hurt me was October 9, 2016. That was the same weekend that the now-infamous Access Hollywood tape was dropped. Wasn't that debate also that weekend? I know it was right around that time.
I had known, or thought I had known, the man who hurt me for nearly a decade. I thought he was my friend. I loved him and trusted him. For everything he did to me in October 2015 and beyond that point, I still don't see him as big of a threat as I see T****. While he never had to pay either through criminal or civil court, enough people learned who and what he really was and shunned him...like certain cowardly R politicians SHOULD have done with T****.

Hm. Maybe it's not the cotton-candy, but Peter Gabriel that makes it look good.
Then again, he makes everything look good.

Was it Shakespeare who wrote, "hell is empty and all the devils are here."

The iconic human struggle, good vs evil, all part of human literature and myth.

Irish_Dem
(69,591 posts)We know that there are evil people, sociopaths, psychopaths, etc.
They make up only about 1-3% of the population.
But these people constitute at least one third to one half of all American leadership.
The biggest question is why the American people idolize them and make them their leaders.
Why are people so easily manipulated to work against their own interests and to destroy
their lives and country.
There is plenty of cult member research about their need for a strong leader to fill
in some missing pieces in their psyche. And about politicians appealing to the dark side of
human nature, and creating chaos and fear to get votes.
But the fact what we are seeing is so widespread, so many Americans and indeed educated
people, attorneys, politicians, leaders who also are willing to destroy our democracy is going
to be studied far into the future.
Steve Schmidt calls it the greatest moral collapse in American history and greatest failure
in terms of civic duty.

That is according to the Guardian's Hugo Lowell who appeared on MSNBC early Saturday morning on "The Katie Phang Show" to report on the timeline before the former president was forced to surrender on racketeering charges at an Atlanta jail on Thursday.....
"Ultimately when the mugshot came he decided fundraising would be the way out for him to kind of distract from, really, the indignity and humiliation of having to get a mugshot," Lowell explained. "But from our reporting, speaking to people in his inner circle for the days and weeks leading up to this surrender he was trying to get his lawyers to get an exemption so he wouldn't have to take this mugshot."....
"He wanted none of his personal details to be public," he elaborated, "Then he was pushing his lawyers to negotiate that with the DA's office and the sheriff's office. And when the sheriff's made it very clear he was not gonna get any special treatment that was when they recalibrated and said, 'Fine, if we have to do this we'll fund-raise off it.'"

(33,811 posts)It's an old actor's trick: Stick your head forward and tilt your chin downward, so that nobody can see what's under your chin. He's not the only one who did that, either. Rudy and a few of the others did, as well.
And, yeah, that's not "defiant." That's petulance mixed with fear. What a fucking clown.
