There are a number of regular MSNBC hosts who are "off" this week..Katy Tur is another one. and Chris Hayes seems to have been gone for at least two, possibly three weeks..He seems to take a lot of time off.

If I remember correctly, he said that rap woke him up to social injustice.

And missed what Ayman said - hopefully he told Ari to knock it off.

TBH, I was absolutely thrilled when Ari got his own show but was quickly turned off because of that nonsense. I do not care for rap in the least, so Ari lost me as a daily viewer very quickly.

As far as I'm concerned, he can do what he wants on his own show. But please Ari, don't do it when you're a guest panelist. If you think it makes you look cool, you're wrong.

Rap is ok even though I'm not much of a fan but it confused me when Ari would have all these rappers on his show.

We passed thru Medellin on our way to Cartagena just last week. (It was a two day drive.)

LA TIERRA PROMETIDA, CARLOS VIVES, CARTAGENA DE INDIAS, COLOMBIA, TURISMO

The last 3 minutes of this is a Bambuco Patiano / Hip-Hop fusion that a university student made with Las Cantaoras del Patia.

I've never been able to take him seriously about anything so I don't watch or listen to him.

Which is why I don't get the rap references he makes.

But I don't have a problem that he's into it, and I don't really have a problem with the genre itself. I've liked my share of rap songs, after all. One of my favorites:

People still trashing rap/hip hop after it's been around more than 40 years is like the people who still talk trash about rock music. Hatred of it doesn't change that it's here to stay, because it's an art form that speaks certain truths, like all real art.
