"David Letterman cost Mitt Romney the presidential election"

A South Florida marketing executive on Monday released emails he says show the real reason Mitt Romney lost the presidential election: Romney’s failure to respond to late night talk show host David Letterman’s unrelenting attacks against the former governor in the form of monologues and comedy bits that portrayed Romney as an out-of-touch rich guy who likes to torture his pet dog by tying him to the roof of the family car.

The emails, sent to high-level Romney campaign staffers, show that...

Sometimes being a lying, swindling, privileged, pompous ass doesn't get you ahead in politics. Even if you let yourself think you were doing well because you beat out a parade of clowns and lower-level grifters.

He was joking of course.

He said, "Here's the timeline for the election. We'll vote on November 6. They'll do a recount on November 9. And on November 15 the Supreme Court will give it to Romney."

I remember when he tried to get Hillary Clinton on the show for months during the 2008 campaign.

It got a big laugh and a round of applause. But he actually put the Romney in a box. He couldn't look weak by going on and he looked like a wimp for not going on.

Yup. It was Dave alrighty.

"If you want to win you've got to come talk to the big dog (pointing to himself)." She eventually did and she showed a softer side and she ended up winning. Now of course her appearance wasn't the sole reason she won but it didn't hurt her chances either.

Dave would've been tougher on Mitt that Jay was but Dave would have been fair too.

All he had to do is go on the show. Make some self deprecating jokes and show he was a nice guy. Of course when Mitt gets to comfortable that's when he makes a gaffe (remember the "I'm unemployed too" comment). That's probably why he didn't even let O'Reilly interview him towards the end of the campaign.

Nov 2012

1. Romney proved that stand-up is not his forte. Look at him at the Al Smith Charity Dinner. Not funny.

2. Letterman eviscerated Romney lackey, Donald Trump, by a clever cross examination of where his ties are manufactured after Trump's explicit diatribe against China and the loss of American jobs.

3. It proves that Romney going on Leno to be simpered at won't neutralize any damage done by Letterman.

For the past few decades Letterman has been backing the dems with his humor and his interviewing skills.
He probably influenced a few votes and I think that's great!

Clearly he didn't win us an election.

Talk about tone deaf and out of touch. Letterman is lucky to get 1.5 million people to tune in any given night. And his audience has aged with him.
