(41,026 posts)Beautiful thought.
And that barometer is working overtime for all those that disparage that thought. Those that trump loves.

But there was also a Sunday School teacher who had a proviso on "love thy neighbor."
"Before you can love him, he's got to be lovable."

(15,162 posts)than ourselves, our lives have purpose. We live longer, remain healthier and shine light to all around us.
Kindness, love, mercy, peace, humility - these are traits we all ought to cultivate during the years that make up our lives.
One of the biggest and most important questions we can ask ourselves is, "Who am I?" And I mean who am I without my name, my job, my education, my physical body, etc. Those who can answer this question are wise, because in the end we don't take anything with us but goodness and the spiritual learning we have completed in this life.
That golden bull on Wall Street? It's an idol. Meaningless, and yet our whole society is predicated on the illusion that if we amass wealth and power somehow we can live longer.
I used to have a boss, an odious individual. He had a tee shirt that said, "He who dies with most toys wins."
Seriously. But if you're like Trumpy and have lots of toys and even defecate in a golden toilet, how does that make you a winner? Winner of what?
Kindness...yep.
