Secession petitions filed in 20 states

"In the wake of last week's presidential election, thousands of Americans have signed petitions seeking permission for their states to peacefully secede from the United States. The petitions were filed on We the People, a government website."

"Of course, this is mostly a symbolic gesture. The odds of the American government granting any state permission to go its own way are on par with winning the lottery while getting hit by a meteor while seeing Bigfoot while finding gluten-free pizza that tastes like the real thing."

Freakin' hilarious!

Considering that many of those same states take in more federal money then they send to DC. That would allow other states to have more.

they would now provide have to on their own. They would need massive tax increases, but the population has backed politicians that have vowed to never raised taxes ever. So you're talking cuts to government so deep the place turns into Somalia-lite.

I'd say though that they have to give up all their government benefits. It will be up to their new government to take care of those things and good luck with that.
