My ten year old cousin gets it!

My ten year old cousin was raised in a very right wing family. Both of his brothers and sister are pretty right wing for their age (his sister is almost 18 and his brothers are 14 and 11, and they are only half-brothers and a half-sister since they all have the same mother but different fathers) and me and my 10 year old cousin were talking and I said "Obama has done some things I agree with and some I don't but I like him personally." and out of the blue my cousin goes in and tells his mother (who is very right-wing) "If I could have voted I would have voted for Obama." and I thought "This kid gets it." I then smiled happily and asked his mother "When is it he can vote for President?" "2020 right?"

This is in the middle of the red state of Oklahoma with a VERY conservative right-winged family.

That kid is smart!

2. He was always trending towards the Democratic side I think.

He didn't like Bush and he hated the wars started by Bush as well. He also really looks up to me, I guess it's because his dad is never around for him so he needs an older cousin to look up to and I am happy to be the one he looks up to. I hope there are a lot more kids like him out there, I keep thinking it would be so nice to see Oklahoma go blue again in the next 8 to 16 years.
