My new theory about Ron DeSantis

Given how utter piss poor his candidacy is going after how terrible his campaign launch was, I have developed this theory that he is intentionally trying to lose the nomination so that those Republicans that dislike Trump can have some sort of clean conscience when they ultimately all fall in line behind Trump. DeSantis is running the worst campaign that I've ever seen for president in my lifetime from a established office holder. Guiliani's campaign was better, and he was drunk most of the time.

My theory is that the number of Republicans who dislike Trump is actually higher than we think. Yes, the majority of the party are MAGAts, but there are enough Republicans who dislike Trump that can easily swing the election to Biden. However, they could never support a Democrat even if that meant saving our democracy. DeSantis' failed candidacy gives them an out. They can claim, "hey, I voted for DeSantis, but he didn't win. It's not my fault that Trump burned down our country."

3. You are assuming that a megalomaniac thinks that he won't win.

DeSantis thinks that he will get the nomination after Trump self destructs. He may be right; all he needs to do for the foreseeable future is stay in the game and figure out how not to self destruct as well.

10. Yeah, I don't see DeSantis as a "take one for the team" kind of player.

He won't be making any "sacrifice plays" for the good of the team, or for the good of the country.

He could be in jail and they'd vote for him. He could have run off to Russia and they'd vote for him. Hell he could be a dead rotting corpse perfumed and propped up like week-end at Bernie's and they'd vote for them.

The rest of the Repub field hasn't got a chance against TFG and that's really all you need to know about 30-40% of the US population at the moment (depressing as that sounds). Any Republican with any Presidential ambitions and half a brain or self respect will keep a low profile until after 2024.

It's hard to believe he could actually be this inept, but I still find that more believable than him being astooge.

If the DeSantis campaign were a football team, they'd fumble the ball on every possession. At some point, you gotta ask, "is the fix in"?

and somehow he's the default back up. He's running on being an awful human being to good Americans. Ban our books, deny us medical coverage, destroy our schools, prevent our votes, or worse.

Unfortunately he’s not taking into account just how many high profile republicans will end up running for President in this election cycle. I predict he’ll finish about sixth place.

Unless he's got some master plan to tank this round to ensure a 2028 victory... I'm not sure. Then again, how many years are left in his term as dictator of Flori-duh?

because he is so intelligent. I beg to differ. He is a socially inept moron. I don't care where he went to school. DeSantis is intelligent like Trump is a successful businessman.

I cannot ever recall another serious candidate for a major party's nomination that launched their campaign without visuals. At least not in the TV age.

I've had the misfortune of encountering several of them in the wild.

How many of them are traitor party thugs did nothing to improve my impression of them.

Ya gotta take Ivies on a case-by-case basis, because the piece of paper means exactly nil.
