Rep. Lauren Boebert's son called 911 in December to report that his father, Jayson Boebert, had gotten physical with him and was "throwing" him around the house and that he didn't know why.
Minutes after the call ended while Garfield County Sheriff's Office deputies were on their way to their home the teen called again to take the accusations back, with Lauren Boebert jumping on the phone to say her son "doesn't need help."
Jayson Boebert denied to the deputies and to Insider that he had gotten physical with the teen.
"The safety and well-being of my family are the most important things in the world to me," Lauren Boebert told Insider on Thursday. "We've had some tough times and heartache. I've taken action to ensure there are better days ahead for all of us."

(1,896 posts)Is anyone in CO who has ever been to court stemming from a 911 call (they were not allowed to take-back) able to have the resulting arrest and/or conviction thrown out? Fair is fair.

(64,861 posts)911 & 411 were programmed into our landline. I hit the wrong button once & called 911. (Yeah, I could have looked up the number, but was using 411.)
Anyway, I said while on the phone when they answered "Oh that was dumb, I meant to dial FOUR one one."
2 cop cars showed up anyway. I apologized for being so careless.
They asked if I wanted them to come in & I told them they could if they wanted to. Saying no probably would have sounded suspicious, anyway.
Saying OK must have been enough because they didn't come in. Said thanks for my cooperation and left.
I never even reported anything and they still showed up.

(2,894 posts)and it turned out our landline, which we haven't used in years (and don't currently have a phone hooked up to) had called 911! They said the lines are old in SF, and sometimes when it rains, they get bogus calls. I was kinda stunned because I was always hearing how police never respond in SF... and this seemed a little extra. But if it had been a real emergency call, it's nice to know they might actually show up. I mean, I'm old and white in a middle class neighborhood, so I probably (hopefully?) didn't have to worry about a tragic outcome, although cops pounding on the door (when you have not called the cops) is not initially reassuring.

(4,741 posts)Burgess Meredith apparently got to ad-lib funny euphemisms for sex/penis. If you wait until the end, you see all of the outtakes of that scene. What's amazing is how Jack Lemmon held character through most of them.
Anyway, "ride on the baloney pony" was one of his ad-libs.

(20,819 posts)And her family if they were not so deliberately unlikable. Once again, she's uneducated, stupid, a terrible parent, illegally took money from her campaign and is a lobbyist money funnel, and is known for doing no legislating. Why is she in congress. Who votes for the Boeberts of the world. This isnt a great American success story, this is the script of everything wrong in America presented as normal middle class family values.

(23,296 posts)and then calls back to take back what he said his dad was doing to him? Sounds like an adult made that suggestion to him totally undermining him...then to make it worse his mother jumps on the phone to say the child doesn't need help? That poor kiddo. His dad is violent, his mother is staggeringly stupid, the house is full of guns and the kid has no parental support. This probably won't end well.

(1,636 posts)It's called enabling, and it helps the abuser and his accomplice escape responsibility for their actions...and in bang-bang Boebert's case, keeps an embarrassing family abuse situation out of the public eye.
You see this kind of thing played out in families of alcoholics/addicts, and it never really stops until the victims choose to cut ties with them all

(11,757 posts)A Mandatory Reporter, under Colorado law... Would take some doing and the right judge. The son needs outside counsel. If I were him, I would request a visit with my pediatrician, tell them my story, and then request a referral to a counselor. Get this stuff on record with Healthcare providers. Then, might get help for the situation. Really awful report, especially, since we know how armed this household is! This type of violence could turn deadly in a heartbeat. These kids need protection.
