If justice is permitted to die, then democracy dies.
The Preamble to the Constitution:
"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

1. "domestic Tranquility" should not be overlooked either
With a capital 'T' no less. Preamble being foundational to original intent. Need some lawyers to dust off the US Constitution and argue some 2A "well-regulated militia" cases before the Right Wing-owned SCOTUS.

4. That is the one part of the Preamble that those rethugs always skim quickly past.
They loudly declare that 'WE THE PEOPLE...' and so on, but when they get to that line, they tend to mumble and rush past it. Because they do not believe in that part for one second. And, as soon as these idiots under the rethug spell see the damage firsthand (because they will not believe anything or do anything until it affects them personally), they will see just what that phrase means and why it is THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE ENTIRE PREAMBLE.

5. "Provide for the common defense" gets forgotten all too often as well
The 2nd Amendment is about "common defense" and not a license for insurrection as the NRA has brainwashed many to think.

13. The contemporary 2nd amendment discussion is so convoluted it could only exist....
in an arena of intentional misunderstanding. If unlimited concealed carry is a citizen's right and corporations deserve the recognition of actual human beings the constitution is beyond vulnerable.
Is it too late to trust your own eyes when it's safer to close them tightly? |
