I see literally all around the country that MAGAs are going apeshit about what they're doing to "protect children". But what are they protecting children from?
If it's protecting children from sex, we all know that's bullshit because they're targeting the wrong people. They lose their fucking minds over drag queen story hour, but totally look the other way when youth pastors are involved in child rape and human trafficking, among other egregious crimes.
They're also totally OK with kids getting shot and dying while they are in school. The problem isn't more police. Or fewer windows. Or any of the other bullshit excuses they make every time a mass shooting happens in a school. One should have been enough. But nope, that worthless fucking conspiracy theorist asshole had to go shooting his mouth off that it didn't happen and now things are worse than ever. And they make it worse every time, by abusing the 2nd amendment to placate some bullshit gun fantasies, and make it easier to get guns in the hands of people who shouldn't have them.
In short, the GOP doesn't care about children. They're just using them as a prop to pass these ridiculous laws that are based on nothing. Which will ultimately hurt more children in the long run. They come from the darkest corners of the internet and are based in nothing. It's a step towards genocide. The GOP hasn't protected one kid from one groomer and they fucking know it. It's getting quite embarrassing. We need to stand up to the bullshit now, tomorrow may be too late.

(70,491 posts)BTW they want to overthrow America and to do so they have to get people upset about
"non issues" such as sexual assaults on children, the threat of trans people, CRT, and so
on.

(20,834 posts)Saying you're for X because it is protecting kids is hard to debate against, because who would want to harm children? Thus, the media in this country has shown a distinct lack of courage in attacking such conversation starters. Meanwhile the GOP shoves social policy that affects far more the children passes based on this with an easy media pass.
Arguments based on, "think of the children" are generally known in politics as holding a BS shield. After a while, most liberals learn to simply ignore the pretext as conservatives have shown no interest in thinking of the children or anyone else. Unfortunately things that really harm children (and adults) are rarely addressed.

The whole GOP party platform is creepy and I think you're seeing Democratic candidates start to really home in on pointing it out. Meanwhile the media seems interested in Town Halls to normalize by talking around these obvious creep factors.

Cognitive discord can literally control peoples' minds.

(100,063 posts)The scary thing is they're lowering the age for children to get married and to work and have babies. But who cares if they can't make enough to buy houses or support their families? SMDH.

(13,574 posts)would take it down to 14 to cover for the fact they were founded by a child rapist. He had a young girl they claim was a wife. I don't care what the law said or what little house on the prairie bullshit they claim justified that, he was around 37 years old and was a cult leader. It's not ancient Greece we're talking about. It was child rape.

(32,685 posts)The things they are obsessing about are not things normally functioning people obsess about or even think about. And when you couple that with their tendency to project their own crimes onto others, it really makes me nervous about what might be going on.

(100,063 posts)But that's all they think about. There's something criminally wrong happening in this country right now. Q Anon is one of the worst things that's ever happened to this country.

Defund or ruin the schools, then put all the kids to work for slave labor. Start them young and keep them working until they're in their 80s... we'll be able to rely less on Chinese imports.
