If you are a person who looks after homeless cats, beware of scammers! I care for a clowder of Russian Blues. There have been 3 non Russians show up desperate for care. The first, a purebred Persian, I have no idea how he ended up on my walkway screaming at me for help. After me feeding him and then picking him up, we spent 3 days together sleeping on my laundry room floor. Lovely cat, but a mess. Matted to the bone. Off to the shelter for chip check. Nope, no chip and all our ads were unanswered. No one looking for him. A little neutered pure bread male Persian, who could hardly breathe because his little pink nose was so tiny. So, off to the vet, then groomer, who, fell in love with him. After several grooming sessions, she asked us if we were open to adoption. Yes! His forever home! A bitter sweet day.

Now, I have a huge juvenile Maine Coon who showed up. There was an ad on FB pet finder. The profile seemed legit. However, who says they'll be there tonight, but doesn't ask what time you get off from work, what time they can be there, and doesn't say directly, but through a different FB ID? I told my sister, who was the one who was on FB, these are red flags! They supposedly are offering $500 for this cat, but aren't directly contacting us. They're scammers. I asked my sister to make sure she didn't give our address. If this were one of my cats, I would be there! I also wouldn't be going through third-party to get my cat. After the Almeda fire, a police officer brought me in to get my cat. I went to the road block. I wasn't screwing around on FB.
