The disappointment of CNN and even MSNBC that there are no chaotic scenes of crisis at the border. Today they finally retired their Crisis at the Border! chyrons. But they are floundering. Maybe they could give the Biden administration some credit?
Nah..... Never gonna happen. If they don't get their wild scenes soon they'll drop the whole topic like a hot potato.

(9,289 posts)attempts to cross the border??? I honestly can't recall any coverage of that on the cable networks. It's just endless pictures of people at the border. Am I missing something?

(21,320 posts)at least in your very short description of the situation, are the historical actions that we (western governments, primarily USA but including French, British, etc) have taken that have created, seemingly purposefully, the situations there that the people are fleeing.

(21,848 posts)Went to my parents. My dad, who is a Dem was talking about how he saw on CNN that the crisis at the boarder made them bus migrants to New York and throw homeless vets out on the street to house them. I said, "that doesn't sound like a true story." He responded, "It was on CNN, they aren't going to lie."
There's millions of people out there that have no idea that CNN is now FOX Lite. People are being taken by it. No idea if that story had any merit, but it sounds like BS.
Adn the op is right, it's palpable the disappointment from the media that the border is under control.

(82,849 posts)Yeah, the coverage on my NBC affiliate (both local and national) was practically salivating at the prospect of hordes of refugees locked in close hand-to-hand battle with armed Border Patrol personnel. Every now and again, they would grudgingly admit that the border is still under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Code, just that Title 42 was no longer controlling, because the public health emergency is no longer in effect.
Remember how it used to be in the beforetimes? Of course not, because for some reason nobody in the media remembers, either. It used to be that refugees from other countries were taken in, processed, and had a chance to state their case. They would be given a date to appear before an immigration judge and released. Most of them had contacts in the U.S. where they could reside until their case came up for consideration. They had every incentive to appear for their court date and follow the law in the meantime, because that was the legal avenue to legal status. And the vast majority of applicants did just that, because living undercover, without papers of any kind, is a precarious position. You can be identified, arrested, and deported at any moment.
