If Joe Biden had an "R" behind his name, he would be beloved by repugs. He is old and white, two major requirements of repugdom.
But, because of the "D" behind his name, he and his policies are loathed and rediculed.
What is the word for this behavior? It's not irony but I can't find the correct descriptor.

(58,785 posts)tRump's "people" would never "adore" a liberal like Biden. Like him if he were a neighbor, yes. Follow him, ridiculous -- they can't imagine why anyone would. It's not even just tribalism. It's personality oil and water.
These people are authoritarians, and tRump is an authoritarian "strongman" leader. He's missing much of what it takes to be a whole human being and has real potential to become one of history's most dangerous monsters, but he's what they want. He's very good at projecting what THEY look for in their leaders. Biden never could.
Authoritarians do choose their leaders and create them from material that appeals. In 2016 they chose and elevated The Donald.
None of this is fancy pulled out of the air. Authoritarian have been STUDIED for years now.
One of the best ways to understand them is still

The book's downloadable free as a service to people everywhere who need to understand their danger. Research since his studies has expanded on this and developed new findings, but it still stands.
This s a really, really good, fascinating, entertaining -- and horrifying read about those who cheered his contemptible statements last night. Like their leader, no matter how smart or talented some may seem, they're seriously missing important pieces. They do not understand us. Or their world. Or what's wrong with them. (Nothing.)
Many of the Republican leaders whose activities are shocking us fit the authoritarian leader models, which show them to be MUCH more potentially dangerous than we realize.
Btw, the sample test can be skipped if some positives might offend into refusing to read further, as they did my upset husband. Having positives is normal.
