is that for too long "humanist" only meant "man." So the word "feminist" was coined to mean "equal rights for women as well as men."

17. It is debated by anti-atheists

Ie people who hate the irreligious and want to make humanism to look like it is no different than their religious belief.

It isn’t debated by humanists themselves. It is only religious if connected to a religion. Christian humanism for example. Humanism by itself, and secular humanism specifically, is not a religion:

https://secularhumanism.org/what-is-secular-humanism/

Secular humanism is nonreligious, espousing no belief in a realm or beings imagined to transcend ordinary experience.

Those who disagree or are trying to debate this are the type of websites DU opposed: conservative right wing fundamentalists.

That is why the belief of Humanism being designated a religion (though one without a "God" directing human behavior) is important. But I have a feeling you know that already.

Every time I take an assessment of my beliefs and behaviors I align with Humanism. Universal Unitarianism is the next closet to my particular beliefs. I am not going to debate religion vs philosophy, or semantics, in a virtual chat room.

The question was what would you say to someone who declared they were a humanist, but NOT a feminist. My point was that they most likely don't know what Humanists believe, so most likely are neither.
