From Maureen Dowd's column:

As W.s former aide Karen Hughes put it in Politico on Friday, If another Republican man says anything about rape other than it is a horrific, violent crime, I want to personally cut out his tongue.

(17,111 posts)I'll bet she felt that way since the get go. I think she probably said it to as many peope as she could. I don't like her one bit, but she isn't a stupid person. Hughes also knows her politics.
The Teashitters do not listen to anybody. The establishment GOPeas tried to deal with them on a variety of issues. We only got glimpses of it. The Teabots were and are determined to do it their way. The fiscal crap had a little bit of appeal but when they veered into social issues it was ABANDON SHIP for a lot of people listening.
I believe, and I think many GOPeas do too, that they have to learn the hard way. You will not get elected if you live on Gondwanaland. Many won't ever learn, but at least they won't be elected.

karen hughes helped build this monster, now she's sorry, so we are now supposed to forget all the water carrying she did for george w. moron*?
I support all women against the gop asshole rape comments. I support karen hughes just a little less.

(20,277 posts)Where the hell has she been all along? She can say whatever she wants. It's what she actually believes that matters. Her 'cut out his tongue' statement reminds me of Chik-Fil-A saying that they won't discriminate/donate to anti-gay causes. It sounded great on the surface, but that's not what happened.

(12,945 posts)the way things are said is what is important - not that they are wrong.
Some other GOP talking head said the same thing - policy is not what needs to be changed - just the wording. ANd that is exactly what they will do in the future - only be careful of how they say things.
