Imagine people in power KNEW E-Voting theft was real....

Would they:

1.) Expose it as a huge public scandal, call into question X years of legislation, neutralize $6 billion plus in election infrastructure, and forever destroy people's trust in the election system.

--- or ----

2.) Call a conference and cut a deal that forever insures that at least the major players don't try that shit on each other.

By now too much is known to pretend the issue isn't real. At the same time, I don't expect that we'll ever see a major scandal over this. If anything, I think it will insure the old Two Party system is now set in concrete.

They do however, want it quiet, because "We can not have thousands of angry voters. Make this go away quickly. We'll give you 50,000 to spend".
That was a supervisor speaking to the Registrar of Voters in my county when a scandal was brewing in the news. Voters were disenfranchised by the ballot design, under Diebold's care.

Kerry said he knew Ohio was stolen UNTIL Miller talked to DemocracyNow. Then he denied it.

A backroom deal is much more likely than a public scandal. And THAT explains the new urgency in voter suppression.

If Kerry knew Ohio was stolen he also knew it was a clean getaway without the evidence he needed to do something within the time frame he had. Years later, the statistical proof is obvious, but hindsight is always golden.

As I said before, the "proof' came in later, so there was little to do on the day after.
If every American was trained in statistics, theory might be closer to fact.
But you cannot take inference to the bank.

#1 is right. To expose the truth would be to call into question the whole electoral process. So that won't happen. Any political person who did would be dead meat.

I feel Obama knew/knows. How could he not? So he had top secret people covertly working this issue. NSA types.

Overtly there were a number of press items that seemingly, randomly came out in the weeks before the election. Really, the most dense coverage I have seen in years of attention. That was no accident. It was planned.

What all of it did was identify the players and send them the message that they were being followed and they had best play their best game ever or risk being exposed.

So any theft was minor and Obama has in effect cut a deal. Not that we won't see a few perps get some time, but pretty much it's 'back to the shadows' with the E-vote.

However... if the people continue to clamor for reform, it will be done. It has been a grassroots effort all along and has had great success.

IMHO. this is why Don Siegelman sits in a jail cell.

As for the rest, I had similar thoughts:

Leaving elections up to the people? I'm not sure what the point of 'stealing' is if it doesn't result in anything being 'stolen'.
