60 Minutes' bad call. Giving what used to be respected coverage to MTG is disappointing.

Haters should be given no place or time in respected media. I said the same thing about Trump in 2015. We all know how that turned out. The exposure set him up to be a much larger image of himself. Media is doing that for MTG now.

Greene complains the news media for harping on things she did in the past, like—as in this video [rolls tape] chasing after the survivor of the Parkland FL school shooting [then showing the evidence of Greene berating a shooting survivor]…

And things she’s says that are over-the top, like “the Democrats are the part of pedophiles…They are NOT pedophiles! What would you day that?!…Wow! [roll-eyes]..

Shortly after she arrived in Washington the Democratic-led House outside her from her committees because of her past endorsement of violence against some Democrats and her embrace of Q-Anon [rolls tape as evidence]…

Did you ever apologize to Nancy Pelosi for the bullet to her head? [displays a “liked” Facebook post calling for Pelosi to be shot]…Did you apologize for your position on Parkland Florida [shows support for Facebook calling the shootings a “false flag” attack as Greene denies it]…

Here are some of the things you’ve said: That America should have a Christian government, that abortion should be banned nationally, that you want to defend the FBI? You want immigration to stop, you want 4 years, you’ve said those things, correct? MTG agrees]…The Constitution, the very first amendment, prohibits having a religion in government…

The latest nation poll shows her approval rating at just 29%.

2. As someone who worked at a daily newspaper for over 35 years, my feelings...

I'm not as critical of the idea of giving MTG an interview as most. She's a news personality and as such a legitimate news outlet shouldn't necessarily block her. (Would Fox "news" give an interview to someone their audience hates? Not likely.) But Stahl was in a difficult position of how to conduct this. She knew that MTG was probably looking for an excuse to put on a show and walk out. I didn't see the interview, but the clip where Stahl confronted her with the false flag lie showed her as a liar. But her supporters will ignore that and were also not pleased at the interview because of their distrust of the media. So both sides are pissed at Stahl. Which is I guess the way it should be. I will catch the interview later today. I don't expect to be charmed by MTG.

She asked the right questions. It is just that MTG like Trump has no problem simply lying and loves being a shameless *. Even when caught in obvious lies as in this interview, she has zero shame and plays the victim. She simply played the victim card and made even more insane claims on top of it. This is the reason you don't bother giving people like her a platform. Sure, they caught her dead to rights lying, but without a follow up segment painstakingly pointing out MTG's tired schtick and how insane her claims are, giving her time was pointless. We already know who MTG is. Comedy news shows do a better job exposing MTG than 60 minutes, because 60 minutes doesn't know how to expose people anymore. The interview of a person like MTG would never be enough. The interview would have to be followed by a segment destroying her claims in the interview in order to achieve what real news shows used to do.


This was done for ratings and social media mentions. That's it.
