Taxes vs. donations for the upperclass...

I'm trying to grapple with the amount of dollars some donated to Romney's campaign: wouldn't they have been better off just accepting a tax increase and thus improve the country? Instead, it appears many shelled out a lot more in donations, than what they will pay in taxes (if Obama is able to do this).

Do they really hate the lower-mid income people that much?

It isn't just about taxes. Some of these guys are international criminals who were trying to buy the Justice Department too.
