Adams, officials rally for NYC's bid to host DNC in 2024

Mayor Eric Adams, New York City elected officials and worker’s unions gathered in Times Square Saturday to rally for the city to host the 2024 Democratic National Convention.

Adams said the city, with its diversity, represents the American dream.

“You bring your culture, you bring your lifestyle. You bring your vision and add it to the American dream and that’s the combination that makes us great,” he said.

“Democratic National Conventions in New York have sent winning candidates to the White House,” Rep. Jerry Nadler, who represents parts of Manhattan’s Upper West Side and East Side, said at the rally.

The last time the DNC was held in New York City was in 1992, when former President Bill Clinton was elected.

Officials Saturday touted everything the city has to offer.

“What other city has all the hotels, the shops, the restaurants, the museums? The broadway theater, none,” said Nadler.

Adams wants the attention and money a convention would bring, but doesn’t deserve it.

Pick a Rust belt/swing state city:

Milwaukee
Detroit
Minneapolis
Atlanta
Phoenix
Charlotte

Detroit is short on hotel space. I’ve yet to see a convention site make a difference for a candidate.

Both GA and MI are much more deserving as hosts for the Dem conventions despite any problems with hotel space. NY Dem politics has been nothing short of chaotic lately starting with their failed gerrymander results.

The press will jump on any logistical mishap at a DNC just like they did in Atlanta in 1988 when the Omni wasn't big enough to seat all of the delegates.
