(22,326 posts)athlete" training. The concept of a "tactical athlete" is someone who needs specific skills in self-defense, subduing others, and in some cases, vigorous work -- so people like cops, firefighters, and combat soldiers. "Tactical athlete" training (strength training, firearms, self-defense and subduing others) is different than fitness training, basic training, etc. Plus it sounds SUPER KEWL and is a GREAT way to sell more products to civilians who want to be Tough Guy-adjacent!!!!1!!!!

Bobstandard
(1,303 posts)The PB logotype on the guys shirt is close enough to the Proud Boys logotype that the similarity was surely intended. In the marketing game its called borrowed identity or borrowed branding. Examples of this technique are all over Amazon where copycat products borrow branding from the original by getting as close as possible to the original In product design, naming, and graphic design. In this case, S&W are making an unmistakable nod to the Proud Boys.
Kaleva
(36,294 posts)As far as I know, there is no evidence the S & W designed their logo to look like the Proud Boys logo. But who wants to live in a world guided by science and actual facts? That'd be boring.

(14,876 posts)A man at a local event by Turning Points USA asked, just hours after the Boise Towne Square shooting, asked Charlie Kirk when he would get to start killing political opponents.
When do we get to use the guns? The police should be able to take that guys guns.
BY BRYAN CLARK
The Idaho Statesman, OCTOBER 28, 2021
Excerpt
The main speaker was Charlie Kirk, the co-founder of Turning Points. Kirks hucksterism is obvious. He is a traveling salesman at heart.
Snip
According to the nonprofit organizations tax filings, Kirk was paid about $330,000 last year. Turning Points reported earning about $10.3 million from fundraising events, more than a quarter of its total revenue for 2020.
Snip
The man, claiming the state had fallen into tyranny, asked Kirk: When do we get to use the guns? to applause and cheers from many in the audience.
Then, to remove any doubt that this aspiring Brownshirt wasnt being metaphorical or facetious but was, in fact, asking when to start murdering political opponents, he continued: Thats not a joke. Im not saying it like that. I mean, literally, where is the line? How many elections are they going to steal before we kill these people?
Kirk did not respond with a simple message like: Terrorism is wrong. You shouldnt do it. Instead, he cast political violence as a tactical blunder. It would play into the hand of the same hidden media-deepstate-Democrat forces trying to institute tyranny by installing Joe Biden as president, he claimed.

(3,327 posts)easily pivot and make even violence and uselessness a wonderfully popular consumer product by tying it into trendy fashion. Hell, even Gary Dahl became a millionaire selling rocks to children. Add some bang-bang, tats, and a quasi-uniform for the enthusiast without a sense of self-identity to mollify the shareholders and board of directors.
I'll admit I bought into it as well-- corduroy pants, Members Only jackets, and feathered hair in high school may not have been my best choices, but I get to tell myself I was a teenager and not to hip on the tricks Madison Avenue plays, or the conspicuous consumption my suburbs aspired to.
