DeSantis Now Says Teachers Are Shelving Books to Make Him Look Bad - Daily Beast
They're manufacturing that to try to create a narrative, he said during a press conference Tuesday. DeSantis was backed by Floridas Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz, who called the controversial rules that have forced costly reviews and book removals fake news.
Florida does not ban books, and this particular book on baseball legend Roberto Clemente is currently on school bookshelves across the state! Diaz tweeted.
However, a spokesperson for the school district pointed out that Clementes book is one of 1.6 million titles under review following the states restrictive new laws, which have impacted teachers ability to teach about topics including race, gender and sexuality in Florida.
Now he's backtracking because he's getting shit from everywhere. Take it to your weird Christo-fascists in Fla Ron - normal people know what you are.
(1) I'm the victim here. So unfair!
(2) It's all fake news. Are you going to believe me or your lying eyes?
So glad to finally see some blowback against DeSantis' fascism. We need a lot more of it.
De Santis must have never gone to public school. Rule No. 1: Don't mess with the teachers!
He's doing a pretty good job all by himself.
When does he get any real work done for Florida?
We can't let that guy get anywhere near the White House!!!
IMO he never will so the distinction is moot.
...the opinions of other R's. Hogging the spotlight and issuing authoritarian demands of a few House/Senate pals to write crazy winger laws that will (or have been) forwarded for a vote. Most are afraid of crossing him however. Still, his overreach on issues most of us Floridians care not a whit about is going to hurt him in his Presidential run.
We saw the letter. It basically said if we find a book on your shelves that has not been approved by the gestapo EERRRRRRRRR I MEAN state of Florida, you can be sent to prison.
Our 2024 nominee needs to beat them over the head with this shit.
Sorry I dont have the letter. Someone on DU posted it a few weeks ago.
Nothing could make you look any worse. You're a bottom feeder fascist.

I don't think I've ever seen that on an elected officials website before.
Or some-such nonsense statement to soon follow.
