is his wife. If given the opportunity I think they both would bury DT alive and help shovel the dirt in on him! If he has to testify under oath, he won't lie. He does have his eyes on the WH so he won't voluntarily say anything he thinks would jeopardize his shot.

She was there and in danger too, and if she's any kind of loving wife, she'd be furious at Trump.

You can be sure he has a good reason for the Pence subpeona. This is not a J6 subpeona, the SC has "motivating" tools to use to get witnesses to talk, where the J6 commitee could only ask questions and hope for the best.

Mueller's mandate was to determine if there was "Russian interference" in the 2016 campaign/election and possible "obstruction of justice".

But something associated with "insurrection" with a couple "seditious conspiracy" convictions already under DOJ's belt (let alone upwards of 1000 people charged with various crimes associated with the breach of the Capitol in an attempt to disrupt the certification of the Presidential election), takes it to a whole other level.

And note that Mueller had been assigned to be under the purview of Bill Barr, who replaced the very publicly removed elf Jeff Sessions as AG.

Barr was the fixer just as he was under Poppy (below from 31 years ago with Mueller) -

Allison Gill and Andrew McCabe. They cover a lot of this stuff in depth.

There are now 11 episodes, about an hour in length each. Well explained for us layfolks to get a better handle on the reality of a DOJ investigation vs media 5 second sound bytes over and over.

The more they will know how things happened. That gives them leverage with the lower levels and it also makes Trump unnerved. And Trump always tattles on himself - especially as the investigations tighten up...

not because of hopes to run for president. I think that he has been threatened long ago by Trump.

Considering Trump's paranoia and need to control others, I don't think that Trump would have chosen Pence as VP unless he had something on Pence to enforce absolute loyalty. Most people are not as squeaky clean religious Boy Scout as Pence projects himself to be. In fact, that kind of image projection often covers up behavior that is less than squeaky clean.

I think that Trump has something on Pence to ensure that Pence will plead the 5th or have serious lapses of memory.

Immunity pulls the 5th defense off the table. Can be used to get testimonial evidence for the bigger fish.

"I don't remember."

"I'm not very clear about that."

Or recalling only things that he's sure are verifiable from other sources.

Or, if the threats from Trump or Trump's Russian allies include death threats, Pence might be willing to take prison over talking.

I am just skeptical that Pence will be very cooperative because be was still sucking up to Trump even after J6 when Trump set him up as a target of the insurrectionists.

That's part of the strategy -- assuming the SC already has solid evidence that could be used to get a perjury conviction if Pence claims he doesn't remember (but other sources are on the record of Pence having a good memory of the event), so Pence would be forced into a guessing game at best if he could commit perjury and get away with it.

With Trump failing in the polls, I think Pence's best strategy is now to cooperate. He's not loyal to anyone but himself, like his old boss.

How many times over the past two plus years have people oohed and aahed about how this or that piece of news must have Trump quaking in his boots?

Hopefully, eventually, this all adds up to some serious legal consequences, but unless Trump is a long-term worrier he's had no reason to lose much sleep over any of this yet.

Hell, even if an indictment lands tomorrow, any subsequent court battle will dragged out for a long, long time before there's any serious music to possibly face. A long stretch that Trump will monetize the hell out of.
