Mom Gets Called Down To Daughter's School About The 'Bowtie' The 11-Year-Old Drew On Her Art Project
Carters daughter is in 5th grade, 11 years old, and her teacher told me that my daughter had drawn something inappropriate in the art class.
A little boy had come up to her and made her aware that he thought my daughter drew boy parts on her pig project, Carter explained.
------------
She truly believes that it just looks like a bowtie her daughter is 11, and she explains that she has never been inappropriate at home, drawn anything inappropriate, and has never even talked about boy parts, girl parts, or anything of that sort.
In order to figure out what should be done, they asked the Principal what they thought.
----------------
The principal relented, explaining that this time he wouldnt write her up, but would keep her drawing for safekeeping in case something in a similar capacity were to arise in the future.

But some creepy-assed adults sure saw them there.

(23,775 posts)Maybe the pig is female and the bow is meant to signify the kind of bow that is sometimes on women's blouses. I don't have any at present, but in the past, I have had blouses that tie at the neck in a big bow.
Surely if an 11 year old wanted to draw "boy parts" on a pig, she would be old enough to know that they belong lower and not at the neck.
Tempest in a teapot.

(19,265 posts)a pig's "boy parts" arent located on it's neck.
I could be wrong. I haven't really scoped out any pig's anatomical parts recently, I'm only relying on memory.
If I'm mistaken, please PM me and let me know, just to save me the embarrassment of not being aware of pig's new anatomical changes. 😔

(22,823 posts)my memory is excellent and as years ago, I taught homesteading, I know a pig's anatomy... we taught how to breed, grow up, butcher and process... I have castrated many young boars in my life (not proud of it- vegetarian for years now- but fact)
this young girl was not drawing boy pig parts... not even close

Where I am there was a huge public debate over school devotion. No debate about math, sience or English language results. The sooner we run these religious grifters out of our schools the better.

(38,873 posts)It was helpful that I didn't have to click on multiple links to see what the nuttiness is about.
Seeing the picture before reading the story put everything in perspective. I looked at the drawing and was trying to figure out what ridiculousness was going to be in the story. Didn't see a problem AT ALL. Of course, like most people, I don't imagine pigs with genitals up around their necks.
Maybe someone ought to be worried about the little boy. There's not necessarily anything wrong with him, but if THAT's what he sees looking at that drawing, he may be an abuse victim.
I can't help but wonder how this young lady will second-guess herself every time she pulls out the markers to create something.

(15,918 posts)It's been a long time since an eleven year old boy was my peer, I do remember some very unseemly stuff that never got to the principlal's office because, well, it was just 11 year old boy stuff.

(38,873 posts)I admit that I immediately thought that it's somewhat typical for boys to be fixated on their "stuff," but I was nervous about saying it out loud--for a number of reasons.

(2,976 posts)I didn't notice anything wrong until I scrolled further down the article. There's nothing wrong with the little girl's picture. There is something wrong with the VP, the teacher and most likely the little boy's family. I wonder what his parents are teaching him? The little girl's mom should transfer her picture to a t-shirt and sell them online. The little girl has great potential as an artist and should be encouraged.

I would never had imagined it was male genitalia unless the seed was planted in my mind from the article. I saw a representation of a happy, pink pig. Then a pig with its genitalia located on its neck appeared after reading the ridiculous interpretation by the school's administration.

(11,334 posts)If you're hellbent on seeing something inappropriate or if you're terrified of being accused of not seeing something inappropriate, you tend to be hyper-vigilant to an absurd level. Thus, a child accuses another child of portraying 'boy parts' on a pig project and the teacher stupidly agrees.
I was called into school after my oldest son, then 10-years old, drew a picture of war planes rat-a-tat-tatting across a sunny blue sky. The teacher and school guidance counselor were concerned the drawing showed latent hostility, possibly a penchant for violence against others.
This from a gifted student who had never been a disciplinary problem.
I recall they were somewhat astounded that I did not agree with their analyses. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a note somewhere in the school files indicating that I'd blown off the meeting.
Just in case, a CYA moment at its finest.

I am pretty sure that a quick check would find penis jokes were routine in his family. If anyone has a problem here, it's an 11 year old boy who sees a penis in that picture.
Young boys can be pretty dipshitty...I know, because I was a young boy once.
Dollars to donuts, the people who see a penis in this picture and want to punish a young girl for "exposing" little Johnny to such "obscenity", are the same people that have "Fuck Joe Biden" signs prominently displayed in their yards.
