Trashed

When or why would you ever consider replying this way to a post? I can't imagine doing so under any circumstances. I've read many things I disagree with on DU and I have stated why or ignored the post. Most often, I don't click on threads that seem uninteresting or repetitive.

Never really had an impulse to be rude or tell someone they are "trashed." Maybe I assume they wouldn't care if I trashed their thread. It just seems childish.

1. I didn't see that

It is better to ignore a post one dislikes

2. Exactly.

But I do wonder what the motivation is.

3. I've never trashed a thread, and I've never put anyone on ignore.

I enjoy reading everything, even stuff I don't necessarily "like".

I mean, if I'm already on DU in the first place, it's not like I'm busy doing something else, so I don't get aggravated too much, but I do have my hot buttons like everyone.

I tend to agree with the premise of your OP. That being said, I probably wouldn't get too upset if someone responded with the word "trashed" to me. I'd tend to just move on.

6. Wise

That's basically what I did, but it did make me wonder. Just seemed strange.

7. Well, it is insulting to be responded to that way.

I look at it this way...

The internet can be horrible, and it can indeed be upsetting. When you find yourself getting upset or weirded out, just remember that the person probably would not say something like that to you in real life.

4. I agree. I have never "trashed" a post or even put anyone on "ignore". That's not to say I

RESPOND to all posters, but I do read their posts.
