The President does not have to surrender to the Republicans.

He won with a mandate last night. Part of that mandate was to do something about the Bush taxcuts.

The Republicans act as if the election never took place. They need to be instructed sternly before the delusions take hold.

The taxcuts are going to end. No ifs, ands, or buts. We can keep the taxcuts for those making less than $250K per year or we can let them all end. That is up to Mr Boehner and Mr McDonnell. We have to do something about the unfairness and the deficit. If we must let them all expire, we will. We will then request that the House pass a taxcut for the middle-class that will stand on its own. If they refuse, they can answer to the voters in the next election.

Their move?

Ensuring a massive defeat for the Republicans for 2014.

Both Senate _AND_ House.

After listening to the comments by Boehner and McConnell today, they act as if nothing has changed. They are mistaken.

but I have a feeling that President Obama is going to shoot them down and remind them and the American people that he was given a clear mandate.

no reason what so ever. They expire and that is it. Those tax cuts have done nothing what so ever to help the country.

They need to work with him this time, not the other way around. He tried that. It failed.
