Freepers on the radar at The Southern Poverty Law Center.

"The anti-gay right reacted with fury, as well. In a long thread on the passage of same-sex marriage referenda at the antigovernment site Free Republic, commenters were apoplectic — and frightened. “Get ready for God’s wrath,” wrote one. “The people are choosing Satan’s finest.” “Fudgies win again,” wrote another. “Incidents of HIV [to] rise again.” And a third: “America is going to pay for its unbelief and its love of abortion and homosexuals. … And IT DESERVES IT.”

We've been donors to this fine organization, and we recently attended one of the big events that they take around the country every few years. Richard Cohen gave a long and detailed explanation (with great graphics and images) of the turning point for the organization, some years ago: they decided not just to go after the guys who committed a hate crime (in this case, the lynching of a black man), but to sue in court the white supremacist organization to which these haters belonged. The Klan organization lost all the property and assets they owned, and it was broken.

They have repeated this kind of legal action against all types of hate organizations time and again, and have won in most cases. The lawsuit awards have broken many of these organizations.

But this does not come cheap. It takes lots of legal talent and years in court to complete these suits. And as they warned us that night, the huge spike in hate groups since President Obama was elected in 2008, will result in hate crimes. We need SPLC to fight all these groups that are springing up around the country. And who knows, if some Freeper does something bad, SPLC may just be able to sue the web site owners as well, and destroy them.

10. From what I read over there, they are blaming the "wimmens" for Romney's loss.

Especially those degenerate single wimmen who keep having babies without a husband so the government can take care of them.

Some of the freepers are ready to "turn back the clock when it comes to voting rights", but they don't know how they're going to get the wimmen folk to vote for something like that.

Knuckle-draggers that they are, I'm sure they're proud of it.
