Did anyone else see Leonardo DiCaprio defending Hoover

... (J Edgar Hoover) on the Golden Globes last night?

I try to keep an open mind but I just cannot find a way to excuse his actions. Anti-Communist hysteria, replaced now by anti terror hysteria, it's all the same thing - a way to attempt to justify the indefensible raping of the constitution.

1. I'd need an actual quote, as I know he is not in support of such things, he's a

liberal. The film does not send the message you report here at all. Interestingly one of the worst tactics of the J Edgar era went like this: ' I was out with some people last night and that Lionel Stander was talking like a red' Really, that surprises me what did he say? 'Lots of things, just smelled rotten to me'.

2. I'm sorry..

... I don't have quotes. But the tenor of his comments was that he did what he did because we were in "extraordinary" times.

Perhaps I misunderstood his comments, it sure sounded like a defense to me.

3. He claimed Hoover was a complicated guy who developed a lot of good agencies in

this country but that he disagreed with his policies.

Dicaprio played an ACTING role. He takes on controversial characters and plays them well. I did not sense any support for J Edgar Hoover in his statement.

or explaining him? I didn't see it, but I can't see DiCaprio defending him.
