Please stop saying that the CCP is loosening their Zero Covid policy. They aren't.

They are doubling down more.

They require testing now every two days and charge you for it. I had to pay 32RMB for my wife and me because tomorrow we're moving into a new city 30KM from my in-laws house. Masks are required, even in your own car and you can be pulled over.

They still have the 5/3 quarantine requirement and still shut down entire cities and neighborhoods if ONE person pops hot with COVID, even if they are asymptomatic.

There is no relaxing of anything. To relax things means that the CCP and Winnie the Flu made mistakes and are admitting they are wrong. With the concept of saving and maintaining face, that cannot happen. Here, it is better to continue to go over a cliff than to stop and reconsider.

This is what happens when you back yourself into a corner with the rhetoric. They are now stuck and there is nothing they can do to "roll back" this moronic policy while maintaining face because they swore for two years that they would defeat the virus.

The people here have been told that foreigners brought it here, that foreigners caused it to be worse, and that the protests are now being caused by foreign influences, namely the USA. So, they have ramped up the jingoism and xenophobia to a fevered pitch.

To keep up the illusion that the rest of the world his dying more than China, they have censored the non-mask wearing crowds at the world cup. They have restricted the internet more than ever before and have a pervasive cult of personality around the creator of zero covid, Winnie the Flu.

However, will all the problems I mentioned in myfirst post about the protests, even if they slow down which they haven't seemed to, there aren't enough jails and the people of China are beginning to awaken from the brutality of the CCP and the psychopathy of Winnie the Flu. The cat is out of the back now and as I say in class "you can't put the fart back in the elephant."

It also doesn't help when doctors interview say that China will face five million deaths if they remove the Zero Covid Policy. That emboldens the CCP to double down even more. I find it hypocritical that people scream out of one side of their mouths how terrible Zero Covid is, then out of the other side say that giving it up will kill millions.
