Why does Iowa have such a different system from the states around it... I guess is my real question. It seems to be the state which stays open the latest (which is awesome) but why? Who created the system? Is it a system other states should emulate?

They take a long time to get to the polling place.

(to any Iowans, I'm just joking. I love Iowa and grew up just across the river in Illinois and worked many years on the Iowa side. Keep Iowa blue!)
