Thank you, DU for your support but our DUer Stephanie DuBois lost her race

Last edited Wed Nov 9, 2022, 10:09 AM - Edit history (1)

Our Democratic candidates didn't win in our very red county but, again, we had a (mostly) full ticket. We know we can't win if we don't run.

I've made it my mission to run when I can, recruit and work for our candidates, up and down ballot.

I was electioneering yesterday and Cowboys for Trump Couy Griffin tried to block my car and give me (verbal) grief. I called for help. Help arrived and they left. I'll follow up with law enforcement within days. I've already requested a police report for an attack on one of our canvassers.

Omaha Steve is actually responsible for my running, recruiting others to run and supporting us all the way. Thank you, OS. I am so grateful to this DU hero, angel, brother.

We have met so many younger women and lgbtq folks in our community and we will regroup and improve our strategy for next election.

Thank you, DU
Edited to correct: Our Congressional candidate Gabe Vasquez is tied 50/50 with election denierr, ALEC star but he’s ahead 925 votes

We had folks give us the finger, thumbs down, “Fuck the Democrats” and I responded with “Have a great day.”

But I got personally shitty with Couy and I’m not proud of that. Gotta work on it. For real.

We have fired up and connected with folks under 50, 40, 30, 20….my main canvassing partner and electioneering partner for 12 hours is a 23 year old trans woman in a 2 year relationship with a trans man. They live with his grandmother who hasn’t been informed so they live together as a couple, but as the folks they were when they weren’t themselves. I’ve known the grandmother for years and have to be on my toes with pronouns. Lol

I’m already thinking of who could run to ask.. how we can do better at starting canvassing earlier…

I can’t pretend it doesn’t sting. Especially with the truly horrible folks that they elected.

I’m bracing for a city and county ordinance (law), not just a (non- binding) resolution to make us ‘Sanctuary for Unborn’. And a State Rep who will try to push, unsuccessfully (since we’re a blue state) for something similar at state level.
