FEMA discriminating against private insurance holders affected by Sandy?

A right wing friend tweeted this graphic of a facebook post by his cousin who lives in Long Island basically claiming he got nothing from FEMA because he is a private insurance holder:

Wait. He says he did the right thing by buying private insurance yet expects something from FEMA? What does he want? On second look seems that cousin has that typical "I've got mine" right wing mentality whining about how he got nothing from his paying taxes. So he'd rather pay less in tax and let poorer people who couldn't afford private insurance just starve to death? He should be happy others are alive because of his taxes.

Friend also tweeted a photo from the neighborhood with a sign saying "lower 9th ward north". Essentially trying to equate Obama's treatment of the LI neighborhood with Bush's treatment of New Orleans.

is not right on top of it. So I would ask the question, Do you still want a private enterprise supplying emergency relief?

I think not!

This is a great ad for the inadequacy of privately owned relief.

2. Thats fucking right-wing bullshit....Flood insurance is a FEMA govt program that is usually

....administered by private insurance agencies acting as an "agent" for FEMA and the government. Sepaerately, homeowners insurance (ie fire) is between the insured and their insurwnce provider. Seperately from those two scenarios, FEMA and Homeland Security agency working to help assit areas affected along with Red Cross and other groups, are doing what they can to provide, food, water and shelter and make available FEMA/SBA loans for rebuilding which are available programs that exist for all and I bet in coming weeks the congress and administration (if its Obama) will likely introduce special tax breaks and assistance programs for Sandy victims.

When I see bullshit like that Facebook spew being posted, its just bullshit propaganda and plain old LIES.....The GOP lies so much, they cant even distinguish reality from fiction anymore....

....is to spread lies and try to somehow prove that the socialist democrats cant do anything right and that someone like this jackass is somehow being discriminated against for having private insurance and that FEMA=Bad.

My guess is that Repuke has no insurance and if he does, he didnt have Flood insurance which has to be purchased independently. My guess is his private homeowners insurance (assuming he actually has it) is saying that if he had flooding but no flood insurance, he isnt covered, and that its essentially up to him to fight his "private for profit insurance" for some coverage underit being "hurricane or fire". Then my guess is that in his frustration as he sleeps on friends couches, that he is angry and wants to take it out on someone. He wants it both ways - on the one hand he will slam a democrat and Obama and FEMA for their "socialist" policies, yet I bet he is angry that he doesnt have some cash, food and housing being given to him by those very same people he hates.

Irony is its his private, for profit insurance companies who want to screw him....and possibly his only failure to have secured a govt flood insurance policy?

Just sayin....

Excuse the typos and my f-bombs....Im just so tired of the propaganda and lies by the right-wingers.

...I've been fortunate enough not to have been through any big insurance ordeals. But that could change in a heartbeat, as we all know.

This guy probably doesn't think much of "Obamacare" either. Just wait till he has to deal with his health insurance company for something. Not that I wish that on anyone, but for crissakes.

My sister lives a few towns away from this joker and has great private insurance. She's also filed with FEMA, though I don't expect she'll get much from them. But she's a Democratic district leader, and therefore understands how reality works.

unless the money is used to build levees and sea walls and such.

btw- shouldn't he be bitching to his insurance company instead of the government...?
