Why Romney's event in Pittsburgh means he has lost PA

He is taking dozens of his on-the-ground staff away from the GOTV efforts a winning campaign needs and forcing them to man an event for a couple hours.

That's a couple hours, in a state that does NOT have early voting at all, where they are abandoning their GOTV effort in Western PA for a few critical hours.

If he had a chance in PA, there is NO WAY he would pull such critical resources off the battlefield.

1. Do you suspect they hope to cast the net into eastern Ohio?

They know they don't stand a chance in PA so they hold the event in Pittsburgh which is very close to the Ohio line and they hope they can draw crowds and persuade people from Youngstown, East Liverpool and the surrounding areas?

I do not think he really wants the job, why else double down on a lie about the auto bailout after the head of GM and Chrysler call you out for false ads. He and his team are dumber than a bag of hammers.

They need their staffers out getting people to vote ... not manning an event for a couple hours.

It's going to be some interesting reading.

Your PA point makes a lot of sense.

He's down to one final play -- heave the ball and see if it gets caught.

People at DU have warned for months that PA would be ground zero for voter suppression, and Karl Rove is obsessed with the "Conservative T" in PA, so this appearance does not surprise me.

8. So the plan is to get Republican Ohio voters to drive all the way to Pittsburgh on election day?

If somebody accidentally crashed their car on the freeway back to Ohio the traffic jam alone and the Republican voters stuck in gridlock waiting to vote would be enough to steal the election.
