The Oaf Keeper defense is a joke.

No commander in chief needs “security” from some want to be Hitler group.

They conspired with trump, stone, bannon and others to overthrow the US Government.

1. Not according to CNN

Their website's headline was that the defense "picked apart the prosecutions case."

This is an important case, hope these traitors get the max.

7. From the CNN piece stating the defense "picked apart" the prosecution's case:

"David Fischer, the attorney for Caldwell, zeroed in on how the Justice Department is pointing to the so-called QRF – a military term for Quick Reaction Force – that Caldwell allegedly organized that day."

"He stressed the word 'reaction' in that term, and said that QRFs are organized to respond 'to emergency situations,' describing a QRF as “'a break the glass emergency team.'”

"Of the hundreds of witnesses, including several Oath Keepers, that the Justice Department has interviewed in its investigation, 'not one single solitary person they have interview[ed] has said that the QRF was meant to attack the United States Capitol,' Fischer said. He ticked off other events, including protests taking place in other states across the country, where the Oath Keepers organized QRFs."

"The seditious conspiracy charge from DOJ addresses agreements to hinder the government’s ability to conduct its business, and Fischer previewed for the jury a defense that would argue that the Justice Department had not proven Caldwell organized the QRF with that goal in mind."

"Fischer also launched an extensive critique of how the FBI handled its investigation into his client, calling what happened to Caldwell and his wife 'an absolute outrage.' Fischer said that the Facebook messages the FBI used to justify Caldwell’s arrest were actually lines from the movie 'The Princess Bride.'”

“'There was some other powerful evidence … the agent had an issue with a Facebook message that said … ‘I’m such an instigator’ … he also said ‘storming the castle,’ Fischer said."

“'The evidence is going to show that those phrases in context were' lines from ‘The Princess Bride,’ he added."

"Jonathan Crisp, an attorney for Watkins, made similar assertions about the QRF, and he told the jury that the Justice Department’s case against his client was missing context in other respects."

“'The Zello chats sound incredibly damming if you listen to them in a vacuum,' he said, while suggesting to the jury that his client did not hear a lot of what was said on the walkie talkie application through the noise of the riot. He also pointed to her attempts to engage the FBI in its investigation."

“'These are not the actions of somebody who was trying to overthrow the government.'”

.......

CNN's headline is mostly hype.

13. It's standard reporting.

"This is what the defense lawyer said" - quibbling and nitpicking is what they have to do.

The fact that these clowns joked about it and made pop culture references on their Social Media is going to be the basis of their defense. "Hey, we were just playing at insurrection; we're too incompetent to take seriously as Seditionists".

14. Please point us to that excerpt...

https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/04/politics/oath-keepers-secret-recordings-trial-day-2/index.html

Federal prosecutors played audio recording in court on Tuesday of an alleged November 2020 Oath Keepers planning meeting that discussed plans to bring weapons to Washington, DC, and prepare to “fight” on behalf of former President Donald Trump.

The meeting lasted about two hours and was secretly recorded by an attendee, FBI agent Michael Palian told jurors during the second day of the trial of far-right militia Oath Keepers leaders on seditious conspiracy charges.

The attendee, Palian said, sent a tip to the FBI later that month but was not contacted by agents. They then resubmitted the tip in March 2021, was interviewed with agents and gave them the recording.

The recording, which is primarily of Oath Keepers leader Stewart Rhodes, is the first major piece of evidence that prosecutors have used to establish a plan by the far-right group to allegedly descend on Washington and oppose the transfer of power.

“We’re not getting out of this without a fight. There’s going to be a fight,” Rhodes said in the recording played in court. “But let’s just do it smart and let’s do it while President Trump is still commander in chief,” Rhodes said.

2. They staged an insurrection to get Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act and thus make their

insurrection legal. Is that a fair assessment?

3. it will be interesting finding out where they got the idea from. trump via stone?

they are too stupid to realize if they actually started a coup and trump was able to declare martial law.
trump would have had them killed or tossed in a national security hole with the blame because they would have served their purpose.

That is classic false flag and these were the dupes.

5. Exactly. Why were they there? Who told them to come? Who all did they communicate with?

Who initially reached out?

9. They are admitting their guilt

A friend of mine had a client in court on a drug possession charge, and he planned to plead innocent.
The judge asked him if he had any prior convictions, and he replied, “No sir, this will be my first.”

12. It defies logic.

What was happening that day? People storming the building, attempting to get at Congress. Were they there? Yes. What were they doing? Well, not opposing the rioters. So much for the "security" angle.

But, it's probably all they got. Nothing else to say. Everybody who gets caught being crooks and liars always posture themselves as some kind of super patriot, and these guys are no different, just the first to do it during their actual trial. Sure hope the jury understands that.
