Nancy Sinatra Calls on President to Nominate Dolly Parton for Medal of Freedom

"Nobody is more deserving," she wrote in part.

Nancy Sinatra believes Dolly Parton deserves a Presidential Medal of Freedom–and so do many of her fans on Twitter.

Late last night, Sinatra–who is best known for her 1966 hit "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" and as the eldest daughter of legend Frank Sinatra–tweeted at President Biden and asked him to add Parton to the list of recipients.

"Dear President Biden, @POTUS Many of us out here on Twitter would like to nominate Dolly Parton for the Medal of Freedom. Nobody is more deserving of thie [sic] great honor. @dollyslibrary," she wrote.

Just her contributions to literacy, and her role in funding the Moderna COVID vaccine alone make her more than worthy.

... when you consider Trump gifted the MoF to Limbaugh.

Dolly is real people and truly worthy of the recognition.

Last fall, former President Barack Obama told Stephen Colbert that he was "shocked" Dolly Parton hadn't gotten a Presidential Medal of Freedom during his time in office. "That was a screwup," he said. "I think I assumed she had already got one."

Now, the country icon says the Trump administration offered her the honor, not once but twice — and she turned it down both times. "I couldn't accept it because my husband was ill, and then they asked me again about it and I wouldn't travel because of the COVID," she said in an interview with the Today show.

Only two weeks into his term, President Biden has not yet announced any new Medal of Freedom recipients. But Parton says she'd be hesitant to accept a possible third offer. "Now I feel like if I take it, I'll be doing politics, so I'm not sure."
And, she added, "I don't work for those awards. It'd be nice, but I'm not sure that I even deserve it. But that's a nice compliment for people to think that I might deserve it."

Nancy is no fan of dump.

One day in the Twitterverse some guy replied to Nancy that he didn't know why she disliked tRump so much. If her dad was still alive he probably would have voted for tRump.

Her answer, "You don't know my dad."

Until Frank refused to play where Sammy Davis Jr couldn't be in the audience or join him on stage, just like any of his other friends.

I don't think he'd like Trump, either.

I can only imagine what this country would be like if she had a daily syndicated talk show recommending to people a better way to live instead of our present-day AM radio hate machine. She'd make new fans simply because of her sense of humor.

It would be nice but, we don't live in that world.

I really hope President Biden takes Nancy's advice and nominates her. She's just that awesome of a human being.

Just watched a documentary about her a few nights ago.

I remember when I was a little kid, my Mom always had Porter Wagner on on Saturday nights. Dolly was on there, and I thought--she is so beautiful.

She's beautiful, inside and out.
