US and Japan begin military drills amid China tension

The US and Japan have begun joint military exercises, amid simmering tensions with China over disputed islands in the East China Sea.

At least 47,000 personnel will take part in the biennial Keen Sword exercise, which runs until 16 November.

It is taking place off Okinawa, north of islands both Japan and China claim.

The two sides are locked in a diplomatic row over the islands, known as Senkaku in Japan and and Diaoyu in China.

I'm beginning to wonder more and more about whether tension between the governments of China and Japan was intentionally agitated by the US government as a means of conquering and diving the two.

in the mid 2000`s the us navy shifted it`s focus to the shipping lanes and oil fields in the south east asian oceans and seas. the us navy have plans already for different actions they can take against china in case there is a need to. the planning is based on the assumptions it will take 15-20 years for the chinese to develop naval leadership that could match ours. the articles i read had some interesting things about rail guns and chinese harbors, anti missile defensive, and the use of carriers. interesting thing was not any real mention of submarines. all this info was published in several issues of a naval magazine that was printed where i worked.

one issue had a picture that was emailed back to a carrier by a russian fighter pilot. the picture was the deck of the carrier taken by the russian plane`s forward camera. opps!
