It's still sort of an issue, if you want to vote in the local races. hughee99 Nov 2012 #5
I'm not saying that that should be the nation's voting system meadowlark5 Nov 2012 #6

Our elected officials should be doing everything possible to make voting easy and efficient. Unlike those stupid fucks in Ohio and Florida.

If you ONLY want to vote on the national/statewide ticket, it works out okay, but there's no way to tell if someone is voting for local (congressional/county/town) races where they don't reside.

Will they have to make special ballots for those voting outside their district that may only have the President/Senator/Governor on them?

I don't think the "signed affidavit" system would work on a large scale nationally.

I'm just commenting on Cuomo accommodating voters in anyway he can. Unlike Ohio and Florida. He's working to ensure anyone who wants to vote the chance to vote. He's not using this as some excuse to be able to invalidate hundreds of thousands of votes.

Every state should be working to accommodate voters and make voting easy. But then that doesn't benefit the republican party so we know that won't happen anytime soon.

Personally, I think it would be great if you should go to any polling place, give them your voter info (where your from) and get a local ballot for your location, or simply vote online for those who have access, and have the whole thing handled with a national electronic election system, but that only works if you can trust the system, and I'm not sure that would ever be possible.

I'm glad to see the governor making allowances to allow everyone the opportunity to vote.

Cuomo Signs Order Allowing Hurricane Victims To Vote Anywhere
Source: NY Daily News

With Election Day turmoil expected because of the ongoing problems caused by Superstorm Sandy, Gov. Cuomo has signed an executive order allowing displaced voters to cast ballots at any polling site.

A person would go to a polling place, sign an affidavit and fill out a ballot anonymously, Cuomo said.

The vote will count for the presidential race or the U.S. Senate race.

But a person’s vote won’t count if they are voting at a site that is not their home state Senate or Assembly district.
