and it's got to be watching Bishop Romney, a guy who's been coddled and catered to since he was 12 years old, having his ass handed to him by the American people. This man who thinks he's better than everyone else, so entitled, so very SPECIAL, will not get the one thing he covets most in life--the Presidency. He and Queen Ann will just have to slither back to their exclusive La Jolla McMansion where they can spend their days riding up and down in their car elevators, muttering to themselves, wondering how it all went so very, very wrong...
Tomorrow, Seamus will be avenged by the American electorate.

The best thing IMO is that they couldn't buy it! Even with Citizens United and all of their money, they just couldn't do it.

(6,286 posts)but let's say Obama wins, as he should. I truly think Obama is very fortunate he faced one of the worst candidates in my lifetime. A candidate so bad that CU money couldn't even wrap it properly and sell it. Had Romney been remotely human and willing to take a stance on anything, this race could have been so tight that we would not be popping corks today, we would be hiding under our desks waiting for the inevitable result.
That's the only downside I see to Obama winning. That people will be able to say "See? Citizens United is no big deal!"

(34,367 posts)The only reason Obama isn't 20 points ahead in the polls is the color of his skin.
reflection
(6,286 posts)that an Obama victory signifies the defeat of Citizens United. I'm saying it doesn't, and also saying that Obama is fortunate to have faced such an empty suit, or that money could indeed have swamped him (this assumes a victory, of course).
Don't get me wrong, I'm incredibly proud of Obama and everything he's accomplished in the face of such stout opposition. I'm saying the Incredible Shrinking Mitt offset the CU money to some degree, that's all.
On edit: And I agree there is definitely a race element at play also. I will concede the point that Obama's buffer (whatever it is, we'll know tomorrow) would be greater were he fully white.

No disrespect intended on my part, either.

(601 posts)This dork has no depth for subtle, self-reflecting feelings like that. He's all surface -- arrogance, entitlement, shallow greed-thinking. All he'll think about is what ungrateful victimy jerks we are, rejecting a first-class egg like him. He won't be nearly as gracious as McCain was when he conceded, I guarantee you that. God I CANT WAIT FOR THIS TO BE OVER.

(34,367 posts)wondering why we refused to buy what he was selling. He, superior in every way to that mere community organizer--and a "Colored" one no less--couldn't defeat a man who didn't even make his first million until middle age. After all, the accumulation of wealth is the only value Romney has in life and is his ultimate measure of a human being's worth. Public workers, to Romney, are saps undeserving of a second thought.
I hope his defeat will be embarrassing and total.

(5,810 posts)to be on Medicare...that comes next year. So those were very important issues for me, too.
I will also savor the moment the Mitt has to be informed that he has been rejected by the American people. He can take his lies and half truths to wherever he decides to go and lick his wounds. Mitt is used to getting his way and it was apparent by his attitude throughout this campaign (even back in the primaries) that he thought he was entitled to win and would win, just as soon as he went out with his charming self. People would just fall for him and be glad to have him replace our current President. He never counted on us wanting a little more than a fake smile and a wave. A bit of substance, a few details might have been helpful. Like someone said tonight on Hardball......It's one thing to tear down the incumbent and another to sell yourself as the replacement. He NEVER made the sale of himself. Guess he was deluded enough about his own importance to think he even needed to bother with that.

(507 posts)the best thing will be that the lying Romney commercials will be gone. Especially that one with the smug, self-centered brunette woman. I often feel like punching someone in the face in a Republican ad but she's sooooo annoying.
