They also said they will match every donation made to the Red Cross.

I know it's easy to believe they are evil because they are a part of Bain, but they are not making any money off of this.

For all we know they will make that donation all right,...in two years after they've used it to make more money.

I don't jump so easily before knowing all the facts.

Besides, this is easy enough to check since these sorts of things usually become public record.

It's even on the Red Cross' website.

http://www.redcross.org/sandy

It's easy to be skeptical of this stuff, but in this case it's not warranted. Besides, the publicity for Bain would be far worse if they reneged on their public promise to match the donations.

I have yet to see them launch a PR campaign to try to present themselves as the good guys.

Goldman Saks did after they got blasted for their crap.

Bain is by the rich, for the rich. The rich LOVE THEM because they make the rich richer and they don't CARE if it hurts the sheep.

I'm not defending Bain by any stretch of the imagination. They are partnered with NBC Universal and another company to help raise money for victims of the hurricane through the Red Cross. Large corporations have historically done this...even the worst of them do it. Usually it's for a public image...such as this.

I'm not even arguing what Bain is, but this is too easy to check into. There is no reason for them to go to the effort of saying they're matching the funds and then not following through with it.

by Bain, NBC Universal or another corporation's donation?

For me personally, if I looked at my son and saw him cold or hungry the first thing I'd think about is what he needs. I don't give a shit if george bush and mitt rmoney paid for it out of their own pockets. My son and his needs come first. You'd be surprised at how many would feel this way.

Don't let these guys "filter" it. If they want to do a corporate contribution FINE, just don't collect money from the public and then redistribute it (and maybe not ALL of it) in a 50% off PR stunt.

Usually, the Red Cross collects the money and they will inform corporations what the donations add up to in order for them to supply matching funds.

Also, there are better organizations than the Red Cross (once run by Bob Dole's wife Liddy), likie Mercy Corps.

Which ran that concert Friday.

No, this is not to Bain, and most people have no idea who owns what. NBC universal is partially owned by Bain, they are raising money for the ARC.

Other media giants

Apple

Communications...AT&T, Verizon, Et al.

I can wear a hat, but you know what? It's not healthy in this case.

If it helps, the average USA American (to quote a beauty queen) has no clue that Bain owns several media companies, and has controlling interests in one, no, not NBC, Clear Media Channel.

I'm getting sick of seeing multi-gazzilionair money suckers making money off of EVERYTHING on behalf of a privileged few.

It drives up prices and lowers wages as everybody finds themselves unknowingly funding the forces that work against them.

It feels like that movie Wall-E with "Buy & Large" owning EVERYTHING reducing the citizenry to nothing but consumers.
