a few of my take-ways this election cycle...

Citizens United was a truly horrific decision. Reading today that the right wing outspent the left in "black money" 80:20 is just one indication of how it is destroying whatever democracy we still have.

The MSM has rendered themselves pretty much utterly useless - no more real than "reality TV" and shameless in their total disregard for the welfare of their viewers in the way they play the moral equivalency game. Whether it is Pelley, Williams, Sawyer (for the big three) or most of the cable sorts like Blitzer - and we won't even get into Todd, Gregory et al.

That a party can run an entitled wealthy empty asshole as president and somehow nearly half of the country supports him, that a party can run on a platform of blocking any semblance of progress by a good and decent President, makes me deeply wonder about the future of our country, and makes me realize how far we have NOT come with respect to racism and bigotry of all kinds.

It seems as though all politicians do is campaign - the last four years felt like a continuous campaign to unseat our President - aren't they supposed to be public servants and actually do something for their constituents (of course this is mostly aimed at the GOP, but I think ALL politicians have become tainted with money and the Washington bubble).

Maybe it has always been this bad, but not to my eyes and poor old, beleaguered brain.

I can't say how relieved I will be when this is finally over on Tuesday...

...but of course, then we have to weather four more years of constant obstruction and attacks....

When I told them that JFK announced his run for the Presidency in February, 1960, just 9 months before the election. And that RFK began his run at the end of March, 1968, just 7 months before the election. I'm only 50, so I don't remember this personally, but that's what I've read.

My girls only know never-ending election cycles.
