(9,728 posts)Phil was on a news show after Obamas first win. He said he was going to have to quit golf because Obamas taxes would bankrupt him. Yet here he still is. Probably never paid taxes. Never missed a stroke. I hate that prick.

(2,221 posts)he finally won a Masters and his wife was undergoing cancer treatments. He was hugely popular among the fans at Bethpage, NY when they had the U.S. Open there.
He has been a total dick ever since and I'm like you now- I can't stand him.

(17,221 posts)the guys on TV whisper as a golfer approaches the ball to tee off or to putt. The ball is SITTING THERE - STILL - NOT MOVING - waiting to be hit.
A major league batter from 'out-of-town' steps into the batter's box, 30,000, 40,000, 50,000 thousand HOMETOWN fans cheering for the pitcher to THROW a hard ball at the batter, sometimes approaching 100 MILES PER HOUR!!!!!
So, tell me - who is 'under' more pressure?
What a joke.......

(26,862 posts)assuming they even have the wiggle room to do so.
Baseball though has a large team supporting each other along with time to try and correct mistakes.
Of course I detest all sports so I don't care who wins and I would happily cheer if all the networks decided to stop airing all sporting events

(16,671 posts)Golfers don't care if there is a general level of noise in the background. The problem is silence interrupted by one sharp noise during the swing. You'll see in Phoenix on the 16th pro's encourage the crowd to cheer while they hit.
And there is a legend of a conversation between Ted Williams and Sam Snead where Ted mentioned that he had to hit fast balls with a cheering crowd and Snead pointed out that "he had to play his foul balls".

(17,221 posts)I can certainly hear Ted and Sam going through THAT debate!

(68,993 posts)...is Dustin Johnson.
He took $125 million for a 3 year commitment.
With his tournament winnings, and FedEx Cuo money, he made $31 & 45 million the last 2 years.
He was making $38 million per year, but signed onto the slimeball sponsored tour for an extra 3.67 million per year. Not even 10%.
But, off course sponsorship & appearance money went down!
He was already very wealthy, and took up with murderous dictators over what may turn out to be extra pennies.
Very disappointing..

Haven't seen entire roster..pero, my god couldn't they sit this series out. They do know that they [American golfers] participating sold their soul to the diablo..and it's just evil, vile of them not caring about those who died on 9/11, those who survived the aftermath. Hope they have a fucking good time!

(2,221 posts)were Saudi Arabians.
Yet because Saudi Arabia is parked on top of the world's largest oil reserves, the U.S. looks the other way and considers them our "friends".

"SNIP......
Basketball legend Charles Barkley won't join LIV Golf as a broadcaster after all. After publicly expressing a significant amount of interest over the idea of cashing in and jumping to the Saudi-backed company, Barkley said that he has decided to remain at TNT (full disclosure: TNT and CNN are both owned by Warner Bros. Discovery).

(68,993 posts)After he claimed to do all his own investment work, the guy who actually managed his money told him to get bent.
Then Phil DID do his own.
He made several dumb investments & took a few beatings.
Add that to his gambling problem, and ges, he is that hard up.
He's an idiot & a punk. I had the displeasure of being around him at a few Western Opens, and f9und he is a phony tool.
