https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/trump-asks-court-for-absolute-immunity-from-jan-6-lawsuits'Trump's legal team argues in Wednesday's filing that impeachment is the only means of punishing a president for abuse and that attempts by Democrats and others to sue Trump after he emerged victorious in his impeachment trial are tantamount to "harassment."'
Treasonous Trump is running scared (my words).

snip-"RIGHT BIAS
These media sources are moderate to strongly biased toward conservative causes through story selection and/or political affiliation. They may utilize strong loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes), publish misleading reports, and omit information reporting that may damage conservative causes. Some sources in this category may be untrustworthy. See all Right Bias sources.
Overall, we rate the Washington Examiner Right Biased based on editorial positions that almost exclusively favor the right and Mixed for factual reporting due to several failed fact checks."
snip-" Funded by / Ownership
The Washington Examiner is owned by Clarity Media Group, owned by Philip Anschutz, an American billionaire entrepreneur who describes himself as a conservative Christian. Anschutz is also the owner of the right-leaning Weekly Standard and has donated millions of dollars to right-leaning causes, including anti-LGBT groups, such as the Family Research Council, which has been labeled a hate group. The Washington Examiner is funded through an advertising and subscription model."

(19,312 posts)completely ignore any stories from the Examiner. It's much more than "right biased". It's a filthy reich-wing propaganda rag.

(62,729 posts)This is an appeal of TFG's court loss in January.
Trump is asking an appeals court to give him immunity from civil lawsuits linked to the January 6 Capitol riot (Business Insider)
Trump claims he has absolute immunity from Jan. 6 lawsuits in new court filing (Salon)
Better Days Ahoy
(706 posts)Just a comment that I was surprised the Examiner deigned to report on another source's anti-TFG story. I got it the first time. Not a comprehension issue ....
MissMillie
(38,986 posts)and actually, I enjoy the comic relief about TFG's nonsense suits. I didn't see the Raw Story report on it.
I agree that more often than not the Washington Examiner's reporting is crap. But this is just a paragraph or two about the filing.
I absolutely WOULD like a link to the filing. That's even more comic relief.
Better Days Ahoy
(706 posts)Simply a reaction that The Washington Examiner gave the story any space in its publication at all. Guess I'll need to be a tad more clear in my comments.

(25,300 posts)we have a court that just overturned settled law, would it surprise anyone if this fascist SC gave trump absolute immunity?
We need a bigger push to add 4 more justices, put in term limits, whatever. This court won't stop with abortion.

(51,552 posts)Absolute immunity is immunity from criminal prosecution or civil suit for actions taken within the scope of their official duties.
Trump has a very hard row to hoe if he wants to try to convince a court that trying to overthrow the US Government and kill government officials because he didnt like the way the election turned out was part of his official duties.

The DOJ does not have a choice has to come down as hard on DT as the law allows. This cannot continue or we will end up with someone who really does have billions and is even more maniacal then DT thinking they are above the law and can do as they please
.(musk)
Plus the threats DT is making must be answered. No one should be allowed to do that without a response by the United States. Hopefully there will be a couple of charges added after charges for:
Sedition.
Treason.
The deaths of over 1 million Americans to COVID.
Taking Top Secret material.
Threatening violence

(59,989 posts)I agree he, though incompetence and a view that ignoring it would be politically better for him, very likey made things worse. Certainly his super spreaders were a terrible idea. However, many countries around the world including Italy and England were hit hard at the begining. Not to mention, many states that did the worst at the beginning, like NY and NJ, were blue. It 8s true that Washington state, which was the first hit, immediately acted following the science and likely saved lives.
The precedent of charging a President with something where the correct solution was not immediately known is scary.
Snackshack
(2,541 posts)He did so to Bob Woodward on tape. He knew it was a very deadly disease but he wanted to play it down so he lied said it was no worse then flu or a hoax. Not only that DT is been identified as one of the biggest misinformation sources about COVID.
He did all he could to slow down or stop the response. He tried to stop testing. Wanted a cruise ship to not dock
all of this while president a job he took an Oath for.
No- he should be charge for the actions he took because it cost Americans their lives.

He's running scared. When he's finally cornered, he's going to go full on mobster and start ordering hits. He's a rank amateur, so I hope the FBI will have guys in place for the hiring.
Oh, and I suppose his lawyers forgot that the Republicans changed the rules so sitting presidents can be sued as part of their "git Clinton" strategy. Oops.

(68,515 posts)A Wisconsin resident commits murder, then flees to Minnesota, where he establishes residency through, among other things, postal address change and voter registration. He's eventually arrested, but claims immunity from prosecution because he's no longer a Wisconsin resident.
Is this basically what Trump is trying to do?
