Is the story about Secret Service's deletion of text messages a diversion?

Otherwise, why has it taken so long to learn about it? Why now?

There's something a little shady about the whole story, in my opinion.

It's to take the attention away from something else.

Just my opinion.

1. It has always and widely been assumed that the Secret Service is apolitical and above board respective to all of the Democrat vs. Republican fighting in DC. They were seen as neutral and doing a job that was independent of politics. That gave them a lot of latitude and given this country’s general batshit devotion to security after numerous assassinations and attempts on elected officials, they were able to maintain a lack of scrutiny in the name of security and privacy.

2. Due to the general latitude given to the Secret Service because of their assumed apolitical nature and the country’s general deference to security matters being confidential, they can actively hide and get away with all sorts of malfeasance simply because no one suspects it from them. They obviously have been abusing their authority for quite some time now and this is likely the first time their practices have been deemed inappropriate, barring a massive security failure. Unless Pence had been harmed on J6, I think we’re lucky to know as much as we do about their nefarious doings.

I think there may be a lot dirt to uncover here. Biden needs to overhaul the agency completely, perhaps even bringing in supplemental military security details in the interim.

That why he made Ornato his Asst Chief of Staff. And he is still there.

especially now that he’s out of office, inner circle is not a diversion.

This is a good question: analysis of diversion vs something else.
