1. That rhetoric can earn a Democratic nomination.

But it's a loser in November.

I've been advised to stop virtue signaling and to come up with practical solutions.

3. Maybe it's not meant for November but for consideration today in July.

7. This isn't about elections, it's about empathy and understanding.

If you watched it, you'd see it has both liberal and conservative talking points (though the liberal ones are 20+ years old), and doesn't mention either party. The problem is white people across the political spectrum who refuse/are unable to to understand that racism is a problem for Black folks but it's a white people's problem.

2. I see that's from March 2022. Very current. The whole topic is uncomfortable.

I watched an episode of the reality show Below the Deck today. The white girl said the N-word to a black girl. She didn’t call her the name, she just said the word in her presence. The black girl was unforgiving even though the white girl was I believe sincerely apologetic. The white girl cried. The other crew members were visibly uncomfortable. There’s so much to unpack with talk about race and still somehow it has to happen.

Even in the video with Stewart, all the white people were analyzing and discussing the “problem” with blacks instead of listening to blacks or giving them a voice.

6. Yes, white people need to listen. But why did Toni Morrison say "leave me out of it"?

Seems pretty unlikely white people will figure out how to fix the problem on their own.

8. People of color have shouldered an unequal burden of educating white

people about racism, to little effect (systemically speaking). It's a HUGE emotional burden for oppressed people to be told that they are the ones who have to "overcome" racism, teach white people about racism (in a non-confrontational way), and fight for justice and equality. Black individuals are assumed to represent all Black people in mostly white environments. It take a huge psychological toll. White people can listen to/read the Black/brown/Asian/Indigenous people who want to speak of their experiences and share information with white people, but not all Black folk need to fight racism out front because the emotional burden is so strong just for them to survive in this culture. However, most white people need to step up and understand WE created the problem, and WE need to step up with solutions.

Solution #1: Educate other white people as to why we shouldn't demand Black people fix us.

5. Jon Stewart's new show looks a lot like his old Daily Show.

Glad to see he is back at it.

9. I remain convinced that our rising social strife (racial or otherwise) is rooted in economics

We are the mice that have fallen into the bucket trap, viciously fighting and climbing over each other as we try to keep our heads above water.

All the growth has gone to those at the top, the rest of us are fighting for the same amount of pie, divided across more and more mouths. In rage and frustration, too many drift to extremes. They blame and attack their fellow victims, wrongly blaming them based on what differences they can perceive - race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, cultural values.

Wages are not keeping up, and our societal infighting is escalating. We need to fix the system so that growth goes first and foremost to the masses; the 90% before the 1%. Remove the financial desperation and despair, and I believe you will begin draining the hate.
