You bet she voted for most of Trump's policies, but we aren't talking about that.
When law enforcement wants to take down a gang it plants a mole in the group to learn all about the gangs plans.
Liz Cheney was a part of the gang, she knows who the hit men are, where the bodies are buried, she was #3 ranked in the gang. She is the perfect person to take down the Don. Liz Cheney most likely will be out of a job come election so she will devote her time to bringing Trump down.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Trump hates her with a passion. I bet Trump throws his lunch against the wall when Liz questions a witness.

(53,947 posts)She's a small-d democrat been only limited ways. I'm sure she's still supports the voter suppression efforts. She voted with Trump something like 95% of the time.

(13,872 posts)are republicans so as not to seem partizan. I also think it a good move by Cheney and crew to keep the J6 investigation in the public's eye. MSM has a short attention span and always looking for the shiny new thing.
This wasn't just a shiny new thing, it was a fricken disco ball of information.
It won't get buried so quick...
Just my observation..

(53,016 posts)She has never been in the inner circle. She's simply a member of the same political party.
Bucky
(53,947 posts)She was the third ranking Republican up until the coup. They ran her out of her position as caucus chair, which has always been a stepping stone to being the House Whip or Minority Leader.
Her turning against the coup was a big damn deal. It was a big fall for them to take her leadership position last year. She's almost certain to lose her seat in november. By happenstance she's on the side of the angels in this fight, and she's out for payback.
She and Adam Kinzinger definitely qualify for a Profiles In Courage award. I imagine they view themselves is fighting for the soul of the Republican Party, taking it out of the thrall of a charlatan and would-be dictator. I don't know if they appreciate how impossible that task is

(53,016 posts)But her place in the House doesn't mean she was close to Trump. I don't think she has inside knowledge of the coup.

(21,346 posts)my posts. I check them over to make sure that auto correct has not changed a word into something else and it looks ok. I click "send." But some weird word twist inserts itself anyway. Sometimes I don't catch them until I see the post again after someone has responded to it.
I am constantly correcting auto correct's corrections.

(16,093 posts)But she felt passionately about the attempted coup n crossed over the aisle to do the right thing. Theres something to say about that..like her or not. She is not her father. This serious committee put the labels n egos out the door n they got down to business. They seem to be doing just fine. I, personally, think they have been outstanding keeping us informed . If its good for them, its definitely good with me. Imo.

(40,190 posts)I dont agree with any of her politics, I think she is wrong about everything. That doesnt mean I cant see her as a decent human being.
She knows the difference between right and wrong and is committed to saving democracy.
If all republicans were like Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger we would be living in a normal country.

(966 posts)wouldnt have gotten anywhere near what we have now.
Yes I agree that under different circumstances she would be hated here and for good reason, but as gab13 posted, 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend'.
The rebubs would burn her at the stake now, but if they were smart (which they are not) she would be their go to for pres. In 2024.

that the witnesses are all Republicans. Well, jeez, it was a Repub administration, a Repub plot to overthrow the government, and a cabal of Repub criminals. Who else would have been there?
Likewise Liz Cheney. Shes doing brilliantly taking Repubs to pieces.

(8,908 posts)grateful to have her tenacity in our corner this time. And, she is pissing off Trump and I like it.

(16,077 posts)on the rest, she is a Republican with all the baggage that has as well as a Cheney, which has it's own baggage.
So, I trust her to do the right thing on the committee, but I will not pretend that she's a friend, just a temporary ally.

(12,372 posts)WHY does Liz Cheney hate Donald Trump?
Hint: It has nothing to do with Trump's disregard for Democracy or lack of simple human decency. In fact... if it were Jeb! who'd lost a reelection bid in 2020, Liz may have been swinging a flag pole at the Capitol herself.
Why IS IT that Bill Kristol, Steve Schmidt, The Bush Crime Syndicate, The Cheney's and Paul Ryan loathe Donald Trump?
Answer: The Death of Neoconservatism. Decades of hard work up in flames.

(53,947 posts)No one planted Liz Cheney in the Trump mob. She never joins them with that intent. She was perfectly happy and acting ridiculously and irresponsible right-wing laws and policies while in the good graces of the Republican caucus.
They've hung her out to dry and she's now returning the favor. She's an institutionalist, and just like her daddy, and she's definitely out too wrest control of the Republican party from the Trump zombies. She is not one to be ducks with.
But she's not a mole. She's not an undercover agent. She's a genuine neocon.
