America may be fractured beyond repair
Thirty percent of the population can not control 70% of the country and have a county continue as a a nation. We will breakdown into 50 separate countries and the dream of America died today.

1. It at least is in its federal form.
Whether it can survive as a confederation remains to be seen.
The United States was a confederation from 1789 until 1865. |

2. My Dad Fought in the Navy in WWII
South Pacific. He fought against fascism.
He would be horrified to know that it has come here. I'm glad that he didn't live to see it, but I'm horrified that we have to have this conversation at all. |

3. It can still function, but not as a democracy.
It can become a fascist dictatorship.
Yes it looks like we are going to have individual states acting as nations. |

6. "30% cannot control 70%"...
Hate to break it to you, but less than 30% controlled more than 70% in apartheid South Africa for decades. That only changed because of international boycotts…but who’s big enough to boycott the U.S. into submission?
History has shown that a small minority can control the majority indefinitely, as long as it has the courts, police, and military on its side. |

9. And let's be honest
That has been the case in the United States for a long time. The average American citizen's power is far more limited than they will ever admit to themselves.

7. Or not. None of the rights today's Americans value as their birthright, including
most people on the right, were created by people who said they may be impossible. As always, OTHERS made them happen, advancing civilization and dragging the rest along.
Btw, we still have the vote, some 230 MILLION eligible voters. Even imperfect, we see the results of its functioning every two years at least. I don't understand how anyone can miss what that means. |

10. Not yet. There are good Democrats in all states and I'll be damned if I'm going to desert them.
Let's see what we've got on Wednesday morning November 9, 2022. Until then, Clarence Thomas needs to resign. Say it. Type it. We can do this.

11. Sooner or later this country will become ungovernable
The minority controlling the majority cannot stand forever. Especially as people lose respect for institutions and politicians.

12. As I commented earlier, there is no majority
Forgive the cut and paste, but this goes well here as well
We've got about 1/3rd on our side, 1/3rd on theirs, and the rest in the middle to apathetic or conflicted to vote consistently. I don't see that changing. Our side is slightly larger, but we are at an inherent geographic disadvantage due to concentration in cities. |
